Anonymous, 03 Aug 2018Yeah, no. Only clueless troll you need more then 4gb. I had xrally and asphalt 9 both ... moreI shot a few HDR DNGs on LR mobile, and because LR mobile spectacularly denies users the right to delete their own photos (you could only remove them from the library, but not delete the files), I tried to use the system gallery to delete them. But as the system gallery generated previews for the DNGs, the phone quickly started to lag and before I was done checking out all the photos I needed deleting (comparing the gallery with the library and finding which files are redundant), the gallery filled up my 6GB of RAM and led the whole launcher to crash. Luckily after the launcher rebooted my RAM was cleared and I then switched to file explorer to delete the photos without generating previews and without hogging RAM.
Having more RAM sometimes still matters.

Considering Xiaomi and Huawei can't add even the LTE support of a nexus 6 to their lineups I don't think Google has too Mich to worry about.

Doesn't seem like a major upgrade. Its like the Note8 vs Note9. Even the nexus 6 still has a bigger screen given the aspect ratio change. Looks like the only "upgrade" is a notch. I can pass on that upgrade

Luxor, 03 Aug 2018So, 6/8gb ram phone have zero benefit? Why invent it then? If you love playing heavy 3D games while running chrome, fb, pinterest and other heavy apps in the background, 8 GB will benefit you. If you are a normal user like 90% of android user, you'll barely feel a difference.

If you invested in a Oneplus 6, for sure you will want to justify your investment, thus you are biased.

4gb ram is a very cheap touch from google.

Add This, the notch, and the fact that the phone will be out when the firsts SnapDragons 855 phones will be in the starting blocks, and you have a flop.

Anonymous, 03 Aug 2018You are horrendously wring take a look at recent MKBHD Video, he says he had switched from Pix... moreRAM does not impact in app performance or cold app opening times. Processor and storage speeds and cache determine that. RAM only comes into the picture in terms of being able to keep background apps open, which also has a battery cost.

Tell me why does a Huawei or Oppo phone with 6 GB RAM still reloads background apps frequently, while almost 1.5 to 2 GB free RAM available all the time. I will tell you. Its because loading the background with 50 apps is poor for the battery and unnecessary.

Dont give me subjective reviews to prove your point. Show me empirical evidence that a phone with 4 GB RAM performs worse overall than a phone with 6 GB, everything else being the same. The 6 GB will have will keep around 25% more active apps, that is it. No other difference at all.

                            *For the pixel apologists*

I suggest you watch a recent MKBHD video on youtube, read the comments. There are many cases of pixel feeling sluggish and slowing down, that's totally unacceptable for a pixel.
Pixels were supposed to be good at fluidity & camera. They clearly need better optimization or more RAM. Pixels has always been overpriced, whether you accept it or not. You guys should demand for more, think for your benefit. Do you seriously don't want 6 gigs of RAM?
