Wake app they mostly are, you have no idea how much great apps/games are for iOS instead android.
Android market harly grow up anymore. Year ago it looked like android is going to pass appstore, but last half year android market didn't grow almost at all. Now the numbers 250 000 android market (maybe little bit more) appstore has easily over 500 000. It's only tell about where android is now, totally fragmented, app piracy, clone apps (people sell other people apps their own), viruses and more are killing android market and devs choose iOS. Also nowdays it's very difficult to make any big apps/games for android because you need to figured out how to get it working with all the different specs and phones out there.
Let's take for example musical apps, there's whole world of them in appsstore. It's unbelieveble what you can do with phone nowdays (iPhone)
I can do a lot more things with iPhone than android phone, but that just my opinion.

Now I did not read your entire post because I am quite in a hurry now. Hate me if I never used an iPhone and I throw HATE words. I do not HATE the iPhone. I am just trying to state a point that it is not above the best of Android. It may be at the same level with the BEST of Android (take note of the BEST word, it shows implies respect to the iPhone)--- the only difference is what the user WANTS and NEEDS from a smartphone. Some choose the iPhone, some choose Android.
Just saying that technology changes so fast and that we can't really set a throne for each new one that arrives.
really have to go, my gf thinks I am crazy (and she loves BB and her iPad ONE and thinks Android makes her dizzy!)

Also it's doubtful any of those benchmark apps can utilize all 4 cores on the SGS.

Apple released iWork apps , iMovie , photobooth , infinity blade 2 (exclusive for A5 devices) , Siri , Safari in iOS 5 scores 31 fps in HTML 5 tests where as android scores like 15 fps , Fastest Camera capture And Best ZOOM , Twice better graphics than any other phone
Do you need more support than this ?
Firemint , Gameloft already working on titles which use unreal engine to render high graphics for gaming and also many apps come very soon ( example "ELEMENTS" app last year exclusive for A4 chip devices)

I don't really dig free apps that much (although I have a few great ones that don't have a paid option). The specs thing, maybe to others it is just a matter of bragging that they have the 'higher digits' but really this phone (SGS2) can do a lot of things now like all that you have mentioned. Some app ports are great, but some are really garbage. There are also apps that are exclusively for the Android (although right now the AppStore is still ahead)
I've come from the GALAXY S 1 that is why I appreciate the development that lead to the S 2--- in just a short span of time. Maybe you feel the same way with the iPhone 4 (I know it is really good without bias) but perhaps some were disappointing with just slight improvements on the new iPhone 4S.
I had an iPhone, too and I wouldn't deny that it was a good experience. But with Android I had a slightly better experience because I can do more. I am trying to avoid the technical side of it to make the conversation short.
Nothing really against the iPhone, I don't want it dead because it works for other people (like some family members). I am just sharing my point of view. Peace!

the A5 processor was released on march 2011 with iPad 2.
Apple didn't try to update this because there is no hardware going to beat this CPU+GPU combination yet.

most people having 3GS have bought s2 or something like HTC sensation.
i pity them really because they have no patience to wait and rushed to buy that junk.
no matter what u say "s3 comes out or bla bla" u have to "buy android device again for 2nd time" = double waste of money.
iPhone 3GS still runs great performance and gets updates , now buy it for free. Graphics are also wonderful in it.
no android phone released in 2009 supports ice-cream sandwich (maybe one ? or zero). ohhh!! w8 most of them even don't support gingerbread.
Basically android users spend more money overall to buy 2 phones in order to boast themselves they beat "iPhone" .
Whats great in that ? today they say s2 and u buy it and again s3 comes u buy it after one year no more updates only update once in a while.
iPhone 3GS even with 256 MB RAM works wonderful no lags , only problem is little less battery life.
1 GB RAM ? for what ? to multitask ? u look at the graphics in iOS games vs android and u do multitasking with games like infinity blade using android u will see sluggish for sure because clearly graphics are so bad.
accessories won't work at all , my universal dock or 7.1 amplifier works only with iPod touch/iPhone and still supports it even without dock needed , android phones ? today big hype and tomorrow ignore.

PowerVR SGX543 MP2 is definitely better than Mali 400, but PLEASE, can you run a REAL Benchmark ?? Read the TITLE of the test, OFFSCREEN.
Please post the scores from a test with some RENDERING on screen. OFFSCREEN scores are USELESS!!!
Also, I don't get why the galaxy tab has such higher scores ...

And the fun part is that ALL heavy games are firstly released for iPhone, and then for Android. And basically ALL these games are also ported to previous Android models (e.g. SGS I).
Dual core at stand-by it is then! And that's a shame IMHO

Cant wait to see how phone apps are going to be much more advanced than before with all the power from iPhone 4S.
So android users where you are going to use these extra powers? :) Half year went and you still have anything which really support your dual core, thats the REALITY!
By the way all your S2 users talking about nexus prime or galaxy S3 coming soon, why you are happy of that? it's not make your phone any better. Are you happy that you need again buy expensive phone over your galaxy s2 which true potential you still hardly had used, waste of specs.

Of course the Galaxy S 2 was released months ago, what do you expect- this NEW iPhone SHOULD be at PAR with the SGS 2. This is a limited test only and Galaxy S2 users know how snappy the S2's performance is. But wait, there is THAT bigger thing in the horizon called GALAXY S3 and its coming hopefully in FEBRUARY :) Are u gonna cry again when that time comes and say "Just wait for the iPhone5?"
You can laugh now, enjoy it until the day SGS-3 is RELEASED. But hey, iPhone 4S is already ahead of the SGS2 with this mini test? Who are you kidding.
It hit 1million sales in 1 day but people forget that the iPhone 4 (last year) sold 600,000 in its first day exclusively on AT&T. Now with the 4S and 2 MORE CARRIERS, it added only 400,000 (thus hit 1Million) in its first day pre orders. What sales record again? ^_^
