it's not awful, but i wouldn't call it hot either... lukewarm, perhaps. the overall package is alright... if the exclusivity ceases and the price drops a bit it might be a good option for people who don't need the best of the best

Design is outdated, chipset is outdated, priced near ti Op6. Well known degradation of moto hardware compared to other phones over time. Big pass, there are shit tons of options out there for this kind of money.
Was expecting a z3 force with 845 and priced 50-100 $ above Op6 with an upgraded design. This is just spoppy work by moto.

If you do not need/want the Mods, then buy another device!
If you do need/want the Mods, there aren't really any competition and you have too shell out!
I'm in the last group expecting to use it with ordered QWERTY slider Mods.
I'm not sure if I'm going to end up with the "Z3" or the "Z3 Play" though (or perhaps the Z2 Force). About the same price and different pros and cons....

Thr Moto force were thr only company with flagship specs with rugged design and they just lost that USP. now they're not better than a cheaper Xiaomi

Several things against it:
1. chipset/price: it's okay. But only okay. there are plenty of phones with better chipsets for cheaper. Just because another phone exists that's a worse deal doesn't make this a good deal. $480 is a bit much. $420 would be good. I look at this phone as just a Z2 with a bigger screen but no shatterproof screen.
2. verizon exclusive. This is the killer. Why? Why doesn't motorola want to sell phones to other people? Make it a global phone.

SD835 phones like htc u11 & galaxy s8 are already available here at around 400$ with all the freebies included even after 1 year of launch.

Not worth it. The Asus Zenfone 5z is a much better deal at almost the same price! :D
I like Moto, but they messed up this time. Hopefully they'll release a proper flagship next year!

Easy, it doesn't have built in 3.5mm jack and you need an addon for that.
HOWEVER~

Pixel 2 XL is FHD+? I thought it was 2880x1440.

I feel it's better than copying the notch.
Just coz it doesn't have latest SoC and bezeless design doesn't mean it's bad.
With nearly vanilla Android and 4gb RAM, it will still be better than any handset with latest SoC and bloated software. It is a complete package of software and hardware which matters.
Bezeless design doesn't improve productivity and efficiency of a handset. But it's definitely not good for fingers in long run.
