Geric.770, 06 Aug 2018Simple. You're using the mobile version of the website. :)But I am also using the mobile version in my Mate 10 Lite. I think it is because of the display why my Samsung J1 Mini Prime loads faster. It only has 256K colors, while my Mate 10 Lite (and almost all other phones) has 16M colors.

The Voice of Reason, 06 Aug 20181GB of RAM? For Android? This thing should have never seen the light of the day. It'll be a... moreYou do need to understand something my dear friend. And no.( I am absulutely sane albeit cramped from some... personal thing that happens in my life, but my mind is 100% clear, **AHEM!** Back to the subject)
This is NOT the normal version of android. It's a super optimised version ESPECIALLY for low end phones. For Android go, having 1GB of ram would feel the same in experience as having 6GB on "normal" android DESPITE the former actually "lacks" 5 GB to match.
Sure. I am a flagship lover and I'd love to have the highest specs possible. But I definitely won't expect a phone costing merely 110$ to sport snapdragon 845 with 8GB of ram. That "Go" edition is MEANT to have low end specs to allow those people who can spend just 100$ for that kind of phone. And yes, I know there are phones who cost 130$ and got X3 the ram and X99999 the preformance.
Let me tell you a secret. Most users are non techies, for them. If it does the job. It's legit.
Cheers~!
Kiya

1 GB of RAM on Android go is enough for everything except demanding games, no matter how much you lie about it. Everything works: banking, facebook, snap, insta, maps, text, voice call, video call, camera, telegram, signal, browsing, lots of games, etc. etc.

Why are you trying to fight these perfectly adequate low-cost phones? You can spend $800 to play games on your phone as you wish, but what about the person who can only spend $100? Why shouldn't they be allowed to get an Android phone?

And with regards to being a lunatic, I take your word for it.

There are plenty of phones with 4GB of RAM under $180. That's the minimum for Android nowadays unless of course you don't browse the web and don't run WhatsApp, FB, Twitter, Instagram, Skype and Telegram. Right.

1GB is enough to run the clock app and maybe Spotify.

I have a five years old Nexus 5 still running Android 6.0.1 and on boot Android alone occupies over 1.2GB of RAM.

In this very moment that I am viewing this site and replying to your comment, I am using Samsung J1 Mini Prime (Android Marshmallow) with 1GB and I can say that this phone loads faster than my Mate 10 Lite (4GB) in browsing this site. I don't know how is this possible but I am not joking.

LG Superfan, 06 Aug 2018AFAIK.Android Go is pure and does'nt allow skiningYou're thinking of Android One. Go editions can stil feature modified UI. The upcoming Samsung Android Go phone (from the J series, I believe) will feature TouchWiz UI, much like Asus will feature their ZenUI on their Go devices.

The phone runs fine with 1 GB of RAM, but obviously not suited for you and others who use the phone just to play games. For everyone else, it works fine.

The argument that you need to pay $800 to get a working phone is so old and worn out.

1GB of RAM? For Android?

This thing should have never seen the light of the day. It'll be an eternal exercise in patience.

You can get a far more decent phone for that price. Android Go is just a excuse for OEMs to put less RAM to the device which will lag either way, especially with OEMs in house bloated UI skins (in this case, ZenUI).
