All I know is, I got the pie update to my Essential phone and it completely crashed. I can't even get it to accept my password to log back on my phone.

Luxor, 08 Aug 2018At one point they kinda did died once. The rumor is that they are seeking a buyer, or at least making it known that they might be open to that. But if they have no products in development (products with a wider appeal than accessories for a single phone), they have nothing of interest to a buyer or investor.

They haven't shuttered the doors, so they must be working on new ideas, and building their reputation for product (and existing customer) support.

Putting the manufacturers to shame. I bet even the Xiaomi Mi A1 doesn't get the update for a few months

If all they did was sit around adapting code for the PH-1 they might as well shut down, as there would be no potential for future profit and no point continuing.

They got rid of the full screen option for essential. So be prepaid to loose 10% of your screen for videos and games. It's worse than before.

Maybe if they placed the ESSENTIAL features on their next phone (if it will happen) like Expandable storage, a headphone jack, IP68 water resistance, easy repairability, and a great camera, they might sell better than what happen to the PH-1.

That phone is made by Andy Rubin, so that's why it's get an Android P update soon.
