Not really an apple fan myself, but the SIRI seems far better than any voice recognition system on smartphones, it makes my sgs looks pathetic...==

FAIL - Siri was an iPhone app for a long time...now they just bought and implemented it in iOS and IT'S SOMETHING NEW...grow up :) there are dozens of "virtual assistant" apps...try vlingo which runs on all the OSs out there...does the same thing...
like someone else wrote in a comment beyond that it will probably have support for 2-3 languages :) so everybody has to know at least english :) but whats the point of talking so much about an existing app implemented in iOS..it could've been any other...but siri sold. :)

Siri is just a copy of Vlingo, so Apple is still not first with this kind of app like people say!

What a lot of these apple haters do not understand in the iPhone 4s was always going to be a success whether or not apple revamped the design. The simple fact that a load of iPhone users have actually been tied into 3gs contracts until may-september this year. Although the 4s isn't a big step up from the 4 its a huge step up in comparison to the 3gs. I think many of you are missing the point. 1m pre-orders is pretty modest

Am I correct in seeing that they didn't have to hit the button in the commercial, but do in real life?? If so very misleading.
Also I'm trying to place where I heard that electronic voice before.........OH!!!!! IT SOUNDS LIKE THAT I WANT EVO THING AND I WANT IPHONE 4!

I know symbian ... moreI am not talking about voice app.I am talking about the mighty "siri" which has been described by apple as a virtual assistant. The "vlingo app" on N8 provides you the same, a virtual assistant with higher AI than Iphones' siri. That too on 200 Euro less than latest Iphone.

Apple is late to the party, but it didn't throw in some trash to make it specs looks good like a lot of companies do.

Why would they make it available on the iPhone 4? If they did that would be brand Suicide for Apple. thats the only thing tempting a iPhone 4 owner to upgrade. Sure a better camera and processor is nice, but is that worth £500? Only if the Siri app is thrown in does the cost weigh up.

Nice gimmick, but nothing else. The whole idea of voice recognition and AI is that user should not touch or look at the phone. This implementation is useless (as most of Apple's inventions btw) - noone will talk to the phone, while looking at it and on top of it making touch/slide/type gestures. Nice to try, but nothing really ground-breaking. In addition one should press icons, hold buttons for seconds or similar, just to activate the feature...
Put on top the internet traffic required, total lack of privacy (wavs are sent somewhere)...
