Amazed more don't get it. They are selling to people that bought in 2016, anyone that buys from 2017, is a bonus.

There will essentially be so little change after 1 year that justify upgrading mid contract or buying the very latest phone the following year.
Phones especially flagship can be held longer, indeed unless there is significant changes in 2 years to pay flagship priced just for the upgrade.
There are tradeoffs that have been made, non user changeable batteries, waterproofing bigger batteries, faster charge, and the need to now carry a charging cable
There is only 2 Operating Systems so very little diversity between manufacturers, a feature in say Android Oreo is "available" to all Android Oreo phones

The next significant feature will be the Note 10 will be 5G capable.

Though I don't miss much with Note 9 as such, I have Now 8 which she to be meeting my needs but I have to say that with Samsung going this way, I may feel tempted to try some other brand if they bring stylus or spen in my region. S Pen is the only differentiator according to me. Not worth upgrade from Now 8. Bigger battery is good but otherwise very minor upgrade. I don't complain as such since note 8 itself is a very close to perfection mobile device.

Samsung needed one year to increase the battery for the same note8 and to change the fingerprint sensor. And they want £1000 for that. I don't think anyone who has note8 will change it to note9. No wonder that Samsung's sales depreciated with 7%

I'll wait for the next Note when samsung plans to release along with their in-house GPU that they just recently announced the newly formed division in the future.

I am curious what they can do with the S10/Galaxy X/Note 10... If it's not freaking blowing our minds away, Samsung is bone for, and will lose some significant market share.
Selfie camera under the display would be a smart point to start with.

What's cool is that you can control the camera the same way with the phone! Tap remote features are the best on the S Pen.

Android 9.0 by summer 2019 lol. And of course by then numerous bugs have been revealed and 9.1 is already out.
