Anonymous, 13 Aug 2018True real world usage is similar exactly real world usage is similar but the price tag is not, its more expensive than the s9+
How much is the price of this
Anonymous, 12 Aug 2018Depends where you are. My local retailer is doing a weird deal where they give you more cash f... morethat is because they know the note 9 is not worth the price tag. phones release this year, flagship phones, does not have that much offer like what the note 9 is doing. oneplus, huawei, oppo, LG, sony, google, xiaomi... is not offering that much promos when they release their phones, they trust heavily that their phone will sell.
the way i see it samsung knows they are pucking the note buyers with gimiky ingenius ads, powerful note 9, power full my rear, the s9+ and the oneplus 6 is at par with performance if not better than the note 9 AT A LESSER price. navigate the phone with a pen crap, of all the people i see using the note they still use their fingers to navigate, seldom have i seen people using the pen for work, so much more for navigation. the s-pen has been reduce to just a photo clicker
Kangal, 12 Aug 2018I have real difficulty believing you and your claims.
The fact is, from this generation of ... more(Whew. Quite a lot happend while I recovered! O_o)
That's true. Although the K950 used A72 cores but that's out of the equasion. We're talking about Governors. And indeed the kirin's scaling governor (950's atleast, not to mention 970) was far more stable and better controlled. In fact. I can absulutely agree that by loads management. That 2015 chipset does a whole lot better than 9810, and slightly better than 845. (I remind, by load management)
Please forgive my husband's mistakes. He didn't learn Thoroughly the idea of SE (Software Engineering) so he might talk some nonsense. ^^'

My local retailer is doing a weird deal where they give you more cash for your old phone if you buy the Note 9. Which makes it ultimately cheaper than the S9+...
Mate 10 user, 11 Aug 2018In Europe operators now only offer single Sim exynos. While note 4 was with snapdragon. You can buy unlocked Samsung phones with Snapdragon instead of Exynos, it usually costs a little extra but they're def. available in Europe as well.
Samsung's CPU's are always in past tense.
Finally Samsung managed to overtake the iPhone 7 in 2018. When the new iPhones with A12 arrive in a month it will be another sorry year for Samsung.
Geric.770, 12 Aug 2018Benchmarks in real world don't really make any sense. Scores? Eh. What's that? Life isn't alw... moreScores do make sense to you, especially when they happen to be higher than the iPhone's. To me higher scores means that the phone will perform better when you run a demanding app like a game or AR, when rendering a video or shooting on 4K, and above all more future proof.
My iPhone 8plus scores 4245 for single and 10436 for multi. This is almost 800 points higher and the new iPhones are around the corner. It is also interesting to mention that the iPhone 7plus scores 3445 for single which is almost as much as the latest by Samsung.
The kirin 980 will crash them all.
Tom’s hardware posted on their site on performace rating on the note 9, to my surprise the phone that is half its price and a little old now, oneplus 6 out perform on some area against the note 9 and the s9+ out performs on some area against the note 9, so mich more the iphone x out performs the note 9 so much for the $1000 price tag, better buy the oneplus 6 better value for money
Who cares. It's the exact same performance in real life daily usage. An average person won't care or notice any difference in performance between note 9 and s9
Anonymous, 11 Aug 2018Oh so now performance does not count anymore... before android was like ours has bigger ram, f... moreApple hater here, but I agree with you, although the Note 9 is not the latest android flagship phone. It's an unsuccessful attempt to continue the heritage of a great series of the past. Very similar to HTC really, but contrary to them, these guys are flooding the market with middle range products plus a lot of clever publicity, so they are keeping well and alive. Good for them, they are doing something right at least.
Kangal, 12 Aug 2018I have real difficulty believing you and your claims. The fact is, from this generation of ... moreHeheh. My wife understands this a whole lot better than myself. X_X I will let her deal with this and admit defeat for the while.
Kiyasuriin, 11 Aug 2018Whilst I agree with you. (And I did try to work with 9810 on my little AR project) I referred ... moreI have real difficulty believing you and your claims.
The fact is, from this generation of chips the slowest was the Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 950.
And that is still keeping up with the latest (and best) Qualcomm Snapdragon 845.
The Apple A11-Bionic is a next-generation chip... one that we got 1-2 years early.
The Exynos 9810 is also a next-gen chip, but its essentially "broken". If you look at the architecture those Mongoose cores are NOT an Arm Cortex A75. They are actually closer to what the Cortex A76 looks like. They are much larger, wider, and advanced.... however, its got huge issues on the driver side.
Now, knowing Samsung as intimately as I do (I worked on their early devices) I can tell you how they think and so what is probably going to happen for next year. They will launch exclusively with Qualcomm (ie no OnePlus device for 3-6 months) and use their latest chipset... whatever they end up calling it "aka QSD 860". Samsung will double-down and offer the Snapdragon to most markets. And for other markets they will offer their own Exynos variant. This time it will be the Exynos 9810, however, they will make slight adjustments and make refinements to the driver-side. And I believe it will now match the Snapdragon variant.
The problem with Samsung is they have many "coders" but very few are actually talented and can write their own kernel. They simply suck at the low-level stuff, and occasionally they will subcontract some work to San Francisco/California and pay an outside worker to do it for them. And even at this point, they don't actually see the worker and they always provide the minimal guidelines and tools... which I don't blame the coder... ends up with subpar drivers and kernels. This is in contrast to Apple, which has over a hundred dedicated professionals that do this task and they do so in supervised teams. And Apple pays them well, which is why they stick with them instead of defecting to Microsoft, Intel, AMD, IBM, or ASUS.
TL;DR: These are very complicated tasks that even I have difficulty grappling with. And you need actual human brain-power, and time, and tools, and supervision to do an excellent job. Miss any of those, you will always get a subpar solution where it might affect performance, or efficiency, or even security. Samsung prefers to invest in marketing, rather than R&D in this field.
Geric.770, 12 Aug 2018Yeah. Sure, iPhones have the best standby time... But why? Are you buying the phone for the s... moreBottomline iphone 8/X is much faster on test ratings, note 9 is at par on performance or worst to the S9+ and expensive as hell, better get the S9+ its cheaper, performs better than the note 9, it runs fortnite now, those are the facts and that cannot be change
Anonymous, 11 Aug 2018Really now, is that the best you can do, storage?! Note 9 cant even out perform the iphone x, ... moreBenchmarks in real world don't really make any sense.
Scores? Eh. What's that? Life isn't always like spreadsheet people.
Anonymous, 12 Aug 2018Clearly they are not the same person making those claims. Try using logic for once.
Not to me... moreYeah.
Sure, iPhones have the best standby time... But why? Are you buying the phone for the sake of standby only? Ding dong Crapple fans. iPhones can't really catch up on Note, Mate, and Mi series due to their bigger and better batteries. Not to mention, that iOS is still not feature packed like what we have on Android.
