It performs almost the same with the s9+ and the s9+ is much cheaper and it cant even catch up in performance with the iphone x which is almost a year old phone

Geric.770, 11 Aug 2018Performance aside, this beast is truly the best out there what Samsung has to offer. Let's see... moreReally now, is that the best you can do, storage?! Note 9 cant even out perform the iphone x, almost a year old phone so you compete against storage... most average people cant even fill up their 64gb phone, android or ios

Are you by any chance the marketing genius behind the ingenius commercial from samsung because the storage thing would be the best they can come up with

As recent as few weeks, my wife's Note 5 and iPhone 6 plus were working without any major issues (including battery)....I think it is stupidity to buy every year new mobile phones IMO. There is nothing we do that demands so much processing power than what is already available in mid-range mobiles. Gaming indeed takes lots of processing power but not everyone plays the games and even I see people playing games in "feature" phones but there is no limit for pushing the spec without any real-world needs to use those powers. Productivity tools, servers I can understand that you may need good amount of RAM, Graphics Card, Processor etc...but mobiles it would be difficult to cater to it without addressing the main issue of power source for such demanding needs.

3 seconds of one core ticking at 2.7 GHz would mean there COULD be UP to 8.1 billion operations (depending on the code executed during these 3 seconds) and since the execution pipe is rather wide. Quite a lot of the program can be executed in these 3 seconds.
          Otherwise you are 100% correct.

Isn't this a preproduction unit, with unfinished software? We are still two weeks away from the actual launch.

Kiyasuriin, 11 Aug 2018Hooo boy, this is indeed a massive bump compared to note 8 What?!
It's not. The Exynos 9810 has big implementation issues, its actually almost as fast as the Apple A11-Bionic, but it can only maintain its true performance for around 3 seconds then it throttles back to 30% at which rate the QSD 845 chipset is much faster. See the Anandtech investigation.

In practice, both the QSD 845 and the Exynos 9810 are not much better than the the 2015 Kirin 950 in terms of cpu. Where they've made the most difference is in the GPU and battery life, without any improvements in latency.

We're going to have to wait until late-2019 for mature 7nm node matched to higher clockspeeds, and lower-latencies, on properly implemented Cortex A76 chipsets. As any enthusiast knows, the microarchitecture is where the real gains come from... NOT the lithography!

r33fd, 11 Aug 2018Exynoss is so far behind in GPU power, it's a shame !I guess that is why Samsung has decided to start developing their own GPU, as the ARM GPU isn't progressing at the rate Samsung would prefer.

It's because of the RAM and new UI.
Not really much massive improvement from 8895, but hey. It's 2018, and it already beats the A11.

Worst in exynos 9810 very neglable improvements in graphics from 8895 version. But considering single core and multi core performance massive improvement rivals even A11 bionic. SD 845 does not have impressive cup, but excels in gpu graphics. I hope S10 next gen exynos can match adreno graphics keeping same insane cup performance. But this year is all concentration for CPU power

"Samsung’s Water Carbon Cooling should make for better performance under extended periods of gaming or intensive use. Less heat means less CPU throttling and better performance for playing hours of Fortnite."
You should verify those claims before writting this. Quick testing by a youtuber suggests there is no real difference with the S9+
