To all those who say emui sucks, I respect their opinion because it's a matter of one's own needs. But don't say that emui lags or stutters or isn't smooth because I have Honor 8 which is running emui 5.0.3 and I haven't experienced any such problems, perhaps occasionally and I will blame that on the app not on emui.

Someone Else, 17 Aug 2018Just because your phone doesn't have any problem, doesn't mean the issue doesn't exist. He's n... morethen u r not really know how emui works then. emui gives chance to users to select either their own memory management, user own decision or android own standard ram management which maintain ram cache through lru cache.
The 1st two, normally need to root.
and btw, clearing running apps process is part of android oreo n pie api, apps only allow to runs in background temporarily, automatically if apps written with oreo n pie api, user interference if written using api below nougat.unless u r still on nougat, then u wont realise that.
its good to have a choice to stop those apps cuz as far as i remembered, some apps really have bad behaviour, to keep awake like crazy, unless u clear them from running, especially if u have no other choice, need to use the app.

im using mate 10 since launch, no problem in launching any apps n camera, still the same as day 1.
unless there r 3rd party rogue apps eating the cpu cores, then no problem here. any misbehaviour of 3rd party apps, can happen in any phone.

"EMUI has been rated the second best skin for Android in terms of speed. This still means it is the fastest heavily customized version of Android."
Believe me, it's the minority of Huawei phones that would actually stutter and lag. Low-end Samsung phones, I've noticed, bog down quite a bit from its heavy skin (from friends and family), while my mum's low-end Huawei's doesn't, even after a few years of use. EMUI has aggressive ram management that prioritizes battery life. MIUI, the latest version, for some reason still uses the IOS way of multitasking which is quite annoying when scrolling down a list of apps is much quicker. I can't judge HTC nor Sony as I haven't tried them (although judging from their terrible sales, I doubt they're much better either)
Only 20% improvement I expected bigger and imo EMUI is one of the best skins I have used a Honor phone cant remember which one but it was a mid range and it was quite smooth and feature packed but I cant say how it will perform in gaming and after months of use
"20% faster" translates in real life to 10-15%.
That is a real disappointment for a generational upgrade and a new manufacturing node.
And you can forget about the MP24 GPU.
They would have included that kn the PR bullshit claims.
It will be a disappointing SoC upgrade.
Let's see what Qualcom and Samsung can do with 7nm and A76 next year.

They've always had the laggiest AND the buggiest roms. MIUI does have bugs, but at least they are not stability bugs, while Samsung always has problems with force closing apps and freezing.
[deleted post]That's .....pretty profound.
As for why I don't say, it's simple. I don't like to curse

There's no way EMUI is the 2nd smoothest skin with it's poor ram management, stutter, lag, and inconsistent clock speeds. The new chipset will be 20% faster and 40% more efficient that the Kirin 970. It will reportedly have processor cores that peak at 2.8GHz."

Because Kirin 970 is a 2.36GHz Cortex A73 at 10nm cpu and Kirin 980 is almost certain is a Cortex A76 at 2.8GHz cpu and 7nm of manufacturing. The difference is higher. Nor even is an A75 cpu. Is a better cpu than A75 and a much better cpu than A73.

Wake up, kiddo. The S8 is been around for more than a year and it's still as smooth as new (FAMOUS YOUTUBERS CLAIM THIS).
I've always been jealous from my iPhone/Samsung/OP users friends simply because their phones are well optimised. They all have smooth animations and software designed for their specific phones. Mind you, I am talking about higher end Samsung phones and the latest 5/5T/6 OP phones.
Huawei is literally just spamming the same UI on all of it's phones; be it a 120$ phone or a 900$ phone. And if I were you, I wouldn't talk about storage fragmentation, especially when it comes to a company like Huawei who sells phones that sells "flagships" lacking the latest UFS (a.k.a P10 and Mate 10). And all in all, I've used a Mate 9 for quite a while, and I know what I'm talking about. The build quality is decent but that software is years behind current competitors.

He's n... more"EMUI always had a bad rap for stuttering/lagging after a couple of months of use" That couldn't be further from the truth. EMUI as a skin has been quite damn stable and fluid compared to skins like the Samsung experience (with the exception of the Note 9 where they have improved, for now), in ranking, EMUI was the second smoothest UI for Android after OxygenOS from OnePlus, and Samsung was ranked at number 6. From cheap phones to expensive phones, the speed stays consistent over the years.
"Huawei uses machine learning-supported memory optimization under the hood. Based on your behavior, the most frequently used apps are kept ready for quick access. This makes the smartphone just as snappy as when you first started using it, even after several months of use."
Killing of background apps can be completely controlled in the settings, if people bothered to look for it. I'll rather have great battery life than needing to wait two more seconds for an app to load. VLC has since worked with Huawei to solve the issue to make it easier to solve. The P20 Phone dialer scroll lag is a bug, pretty damn sure even IOS has bugs too.
