Intel has no play in the smartphone market. Do you really want Qualcomm to dominate this industry like Intel did in PCs?

Anonymous, 23 Aug 2018That should be around Apple's A-series such as the A11 bionic?Don't exaggarate. A cortex A75@2.8GHz squeezes out 2400 points in Geekbench. The upcoming A76 is x1.33~ of that. So it should rest around 3.2k Single core (2400/3=800x4=3200)

Heck even AMD's 7nm has nothing to do with Intel's upcoming 7nm. That would be like saying Canon didn't release a 40megapixel camera so they must be behind.

Intel is pursuing server market and their 10nm nodes do quite well and will sustain for a few more years. They've been polishing 10nm and it's showing improvement and having no competition really helps.

On the other hand Intel is one giant evil company to whom I wish all the worst.

                                  Dear GSMArena,

Please amend this article. Qualcomm did NOT confirm where their wafers are coming from.
We know TSMC has already made batches of 7nm and has them shipped to Apple and Huawei. We do not know if Qualcomm received any.

The reason I say this is because Qualcomm have signed an exclusivity deal with Samsung back in 2015, and that contract expires in 1H'19. So either Qualcomm has to break the contract with Samsung, which incurs early-termination fees, and pay an expensive sum to get TSMC's samples. Or it means Qualcomm managed to get some 7nm wafers from Samsung instead. Samsung is working on it, and they already have their 7nm done... their issue is yields.

This is in-contrast to Intel, they do not have a "low yield" problem... they have a full-blown manufacturing issue in their fabrication. That's why it has been delayed way back from 2016 to at least 2019 and maybe 2020. And even worse, Intel's +10nm lithography is a little worse than TSMC's 7nm and Samsung's 7nm (from what we postulate). So not only are they behind in the economics but they're behind in the technology as well... which bodes awful for a company that boasts about being a leader, has massive marketing departments, much thicker profit margins, and have an over-inflated stock valuation. The worst part is they'll simply fix their issues "late but not never", make massive layoffs, reduce their marketing budget, and take the stock-fall hit which will only hurt small investors (as the whales move before the worst plummets). See Elop/Nokia for a classical demonstration of this move!!!
