As a SE fan, I can't say I'm happy about this news. SE always seemed like an independently minded company. Now they have been incorporated fully into an arrogant, sluggish giant corporate behemoth who will likely jack up prices too.
My only hope is that Sony can now pull its weight and support the phone division properly (something I get the impression that Sony has not been doing). Now can Sony bring in the fully committed expertise of its camera division and incorporate an internal optical zoom into its phones?

This is why I hate Japanese people....They are making lies into truth.......How ridiculous...and now they are saying that Sony is the greatest product... after all it is proven that is isn't....wake up Japanese people.....you really need to produce products that world wide people want...and these ridiculous comments are commented by japanese people to upgrade their home brand look shiny..... and I believe that they are so jealous and thats why that they talk garbage

This is good news. Do u know, sony's first android walkman is more powerful than any phone sony ericsson has ever built? Check it.
Just think how their phones would be.
Sony was practically Sony Ericsson.
Bravia Engine, Exmor R,PS certification, even the batteries in sony ericsson phones.

agree, 27 Oct 2011yup, never liked the "ericsson" tag in it. sony sounds cool aloneI've always bought my Sony Ericsson phones because of Ericsson, so the Sony annoyed me more. I was thinking to buy Xperia Mini, or Live With Walkman, but in this case I have to think better to buy a Samsung or anoter brand's phone :(((((

Each year, 24/7 Wall St. regularly compiles a list of brands that are going to disappear in the near- term. Last year’s list proved to be prescient in many instances...
They have listed for 2012 brands that will disappear, and Sony Ericsson was among them. It seems the prediction is accurate. Also in the list: NOKIA.

Wonder if they will change the logo (as they did when they became Sony Ericsson?) Some changes to mark the the fact that it is only Sony would be welcome on my part. Anyways, looking forward to see how this will change/not change their future phones :)

Most probably the market share for SE phones have dropped so much and the profit is so low that Ericsson is simply jumping ship.
Also the Smart phone boom, is soon over, at least as a profitable products, for a manufacturer...
Have nothing Sony at home and will absolutely not buy me a Sony Phone,

I must accept if Sony gives more taste in Sony Ericsson, like their Walkman branded that I really adore. So I need to receive and accept it too, that soon there will be only Sony. I don't know to say, but I'll miss them. Wish it a better step, I just a fan.

now thats a good news , i bet that Sony Devices will now become a real deal , and a threat for other companies , Sony Mobile/Tablet would sound pretty cool without that crippled name "Ericsson"
