Dofro, 29 Oct 2011In this case the fragmentation is a fault of LG, not Android ... Also, someone tell me which L... moreAgree with you....
Hearing this news i will not be buying another LG phone. They could at least give us Gingerbread...
Perhaps Optimus Black & 3D will not getting the ICS update too.. Black probably won't, 3D just a may be .. since Dual core tegra 2 device not getting ICS, therefore no hope for the Black or 3D ... =( Although situation like that, lets hope LG will made their decision once more next time to allow these Optimus family to reconsider on ICS update .. Not getting ICS is a nvm, i just love mine 3D and Black that still running on Froyo and Gingerbread later.. really love them both...
And I bet you the situation will be better for lg in the future.they are smarter than you think. They have good technologies and good marketing policies and I think these bad conditions have been happening for all companies.By the way se is the king of android phone and its experia series will siez opportunity from its rivals.
LG sucks hard. I hope they read. I was considering buying the 2X but now I won't do that for sure!
AnonD-669, 29 Oct 2011If you want a (somewhat) reliable Android phone, go with Samsung or HTC. And (perhaps) Motorol... moreSony Ericsson is actually better than both Samsung or HTC...Actually it's the best Android phone brand in my opinion...no brand can match SE's style...not even iPhone...and it's more reliable than those Korean brands...
PS: And LG is the dumbest smartphone maker
i've seen...buy a plastic toy mobile instead of buying an LG...it would be more useful...
Two words. Custom Rom.
FTW!
Well I just sold my Optimus 3D.
To hell with LG and their absurd policies!
Smartphones are a tiny segment of LG's portfolio. The reason all these companies are going broke is the result of a number of factors:
1. Chinese imports tend to squeeze competitors' margins
2. americans are too stingy to pay the same price as the rest of the world for electronics (economies of scale don't work very well during periods of slow economic recovery)
3. Higher wages in developed countries such as South Korea and Japan
4. Weaker US dollar over the last quarter
LG is so gonna regret with this decision! Is that really hard and expensive to hire 10 developers for updating phones, LG?! Don't be surprised when LG's Q4 profit gets lower than ever...
Zeb, 29 Oct 2011Well considering how hard it was for them to roll out 2.3 for the 2X (promised pretty much eve... moreAlso - people claiming this is because the dual core Tegra2 processor can't handle ICS - you have no idea what you are talking about. there's a Tegra2 sitting in a lot of tablets that have been promised ICS so it is definitely possible to do. It's just LG that sucks and can't get their crap to work.
Well considering how hard it was for them to roll out 2.3 for the 2X (promised pretty much every month since launch - but still hasn't hit scandinavia) I wouldn't trust them to be able to put 4.0 on it. the 2X is an abomination that should never have been put for sale. Sure it's an excellent phone with root and custom rom but that isn't something the average user will ever benefit from and from the factory it's just a piece of crap.
This is the reason why you shouldn't get an LG, unless you plan on rooting as soon as you get it. Luckily, as we have seen, even the Nexus One will get a custom ICS ROM, so it's guaranteed that the 2X will too. And since my phone is already rooted, I have nothing to worry about :)
No wonder why they are going down hills and losing in their mobile division! It all makes pure sense.
LG why don't you quit already, you won't be missed believe me.
Get Samsung Galaxy s 2 guys. Seriosly its, the best phone on the market. Also one of the first to get the latest updates. Every time look at mine I just enjoy it!
I saw this coming, LG has a passive attitude to software updates at the first place, they produced a 2 core phone 2 years ago but since the only way to utilize its multi core goodness is by using ICS the phone ended having wasted potential, its a shame since SE despite not having dual core yet is the first to release gingerbread phones this 2011 and are preparing an ICS update for all Xperia 2011 phones.
AnonD-669, 29 Oct 2011If you want a (somewhat) reliable Android phone, go with Samsung or HTC. And (perhaps) Motorol... moreNo, you should go first to SE before any brand.
lg is itself digging holes in their boat. it is going to sink deeper and deeper and their financial results will hit rock bottom if they keep this attitude. if lg keeps disappointing their fans and smartphone users than htc and samsung are going to grab this opportunity in their favour
