It's not sony ericsson! D:< ST-Ericsson (not to be confused with Sony Ericsson) just bragged via an official press release that it has scored orders for its ARM-based NovaThor chipsets from Nokia for the Windows Phone portfolio of the Finns.

how stupid are these people are. please read before you comment! D:

All i can hope is that Nokia would benefit discounts from large scale production of ST-Ericsson chipset. This would make Nokia more competitive in terms of pricing and performance. I wonder if Nokia remember Xpressmusic series, a WP7.5 Xpressmusic would rock solid

Anonymous, 02 Nov 2011even 6 megapixels will do the job. printing whole football stadium size picture, you only need... moreeven 100 or 1000 megapixels aren't enaugh because i do not wanna print any picture (indeed who is so stupid to print pictures instead watching them in a slide show on big lcd tv after hdd or stick????). more megapixels because i want to zoom in until every detail appears with no deterioration. more megapixels means bigger digital zoom. more megapixels means i can take 16:9 great pictures, because i do not make 4:3 pictures from a long time, even the highest resolution is still 4:3 mode. it si so hard to undestand???. so leave the print problem alone, only granma print photos on paper

well, WP7 isn't nearly as hard on the cpu as android is so multicore is welcome but not absolutely necessary (for now). Microsoft blows with their hardware limitations or whatever so this is a good move by nokia if they wanna have an edge.

Ericsson(Swedish) and STsemiconductor(French-Italian) are THE real deal. Sony is NOTHING comparing to them in this industry.

they have most patents and infrastructures.

ST-Ericsson is the joint venture that supplys semiconductors to the mobile phone manufacturers.

I like Android but I know that it is FULL of BUGS. Look ANYWHERE and you'll find issues from Fragmentation to Signal Loss to Crashing to the Biggest Issue - Crappy Battery Life.

Also as much as I dislike WP7, it is MUCH simpler for the average consumer to use than Android. Heck most average customers don't even know what a Widget is let alone how to long press to get the shortcuts and live wallpapers etc. Android is MUCH more complicated than WP7 but I prefer Android over WP7 but I'm a tech head and not an average customer.

To blindly defend Android the way you are shows how ridiculous some fanboys can be.

I'm not so educated on chipsets but reading what it can provide, it must be a good thing I guess. Hopefully they don't start releasing dual core devices when the other Android and iPhone devices move on to something else. I'm hearing something about Tegra 3 but I don't know the capabilities.

I hope 2012 will be a good year for Windows Phone and Nokia. WP has potential but needs to find a way to optimise both cores and upgrade the 'general' hardware/specs of all devices. I think that's what's weighing them down in most peoples' eyes. Metro UI is great and Microsoft better make sure that Apollo comes out at most mid next year then newer devices should come for Christmas although the Lumia 800 looks fantastic. The hardware is obviously good enough because WP is so smooth but comparing to other brands, they are a little behind. I want to buy a WP device but I have to wait till Christmas of next year so keeping my fingers crossed =)

Just before you climb down off of your high horse, AVCHD HD is NOT a native Blu Ray format, it just means it's a compatible DISC format allowing it to be transferred to a Blu ray disc without the need for it to be re-encoded. Even then it will not work on all Blu Ray players. Phones that are recording in 1080p already, are barely a mouses footstep behind AVCHD ..
                                  So please, check your facts.
