I think it goes beyond that, I'm guessing there's embedded spyware, that can't be shared with other manufacturer, in fear of discovery. I don't trust China, and I won't risk using Chinese phones when I don't have to
Realistic1, 27 Sep 2018Maybe because other manufacturers wouldn't play mind games with benchmarks? And they aren't... moreIt is also tailored for EMUI devices, if a device does not run EMUI it might not work properly with the chip. What could happen? Well it may drain more battery most likely or run improperly in benchmarks since it was not optimized right by the OEM...
Gary will explains this better.
Because nobody want them
Maybe because other manufacturers wouldn't play mind games with benchmarks?
And they aren't really much missing out on anything. SnapDragon chipsets are really capable, there are even Mediatek chipsets available, and manufacturers like Samsung even make their own chipsets aswell (Exynos). Apple is also playing their own game.
In the end it still a custom arm instruction chip just like others . It's not using Chinese programming language nor their own core design yet they want to make it like a special thing.

Hahaha. This is a cover up by Huawei to make it sound exclusive and special.
If other companies get a hold on the SoCs, they will realize it does nothing special at all.
And if Youtubers compared a huawei phone and a third party who uses the exact SoC.. and found vastly different benchmark scores.. their jig is up!
Now if they keep all to themselves, they still can play the mind game.
Anonymous, 27 Sep 2018Words intellectual property and China don't go together unless the words "steals" is in the middle. you westerners steal and claim as your intellectual property. Double standard.

they should have done their homework before publishing this kind of comment. at the price of their mid range phones which have kirin 659, others have SD636 even some have SD660. not to mention helio p60. Their kirin may be good at some time where it was launched first time. but then also it wasnt comparable to SD625 in raw power and graphics performance in games, also some of the SD625 phones are available in almost the half price of their honor 9i. They thought they are samsung. but they aren't.

Even the Helio P60 by MediaTek has the same, if not better, oomph when compared to Kirin 710. So, even if Huawei sold this things to other manufacturers, I bet the industry have a lot of alternatives

Huawei also implements "GPU Turbo" in their Kirin phones because they know the GPU with their SOCs is weaker than the (Qualcomm Snapdragon) Adreno GPU. Otherwise, they wouldn't have to implement a feature supported by less than 10 games...
Competitive edge? If that's true, this 980 better be as fast as the A11 at the very least
