I noticed that too.
And My OCD can't stand that too...
the best conection is ethernet and the important is the conection simetric or asimetric the speed up / dw ping tracer the wifi version pufff..xd..
AlphaVirus, 05 Oct 2018This is a bad idea.

I allready know that 5 is the same as ac, so no problem in there. Also the ax is compatible with ac so your old devices works just fine and your new devices can benefit from ax.
And if you find that 6 is too expensive to your state... by 5... easy and convennient!
This is a bad idea.
The average user only cares whether they are connected to Wi-Fi or not, and presenting a ranking is very misleading. 6 sounds better than 5, but the reality is AX is not better than AC. Faster speeds but MUCH shorter range is not a positive for people with large homes. Not only that, you need devices which support the new standard...so they would pay extra money for a 6 instead of 5 with no devices capable of connecting to AX.
This will also make it more difficult for users who understand the differences between a, b, g, n, ac, ax, and beyond. Have fun searching "Routers with 5" instead of just "802.11ac"

Kiyasuriin, 04 Oct 2018I see~! I got a stationary PC that is a true beast and kinda taking on Arm's big.LITTLE system... moreUm that setup sounds way over my budget lol. Only game I really play is Cities Skylines and surprisingly it works well with my 16GB laptop with a simple 1050Ti (4GB). And it does the job for me. Video rendering and encoding is a bit slow but that might be fixed with an NVMe SSD upgrade. But it does everything I want with a more than decent battery life.
I don't buy towers since laptops are hybrid. Can work and play wherever I go. And it turns into a desktop PC with less power consumption
But I highly doubt your rig only has a 160W TDP. One 1080Ti has a TDP of 250W. So two overclocked surely equals more than 160W... For reference my laptop has a little less than 130W.
ProJames, 04 Oct 2018A true flagship. 45W TDP. My laptop is a gaming laptop. But I also do video editing, Photoshop... moreI see~! I got a stationary PC that is a true beast and kinda taking on Arm's big.LITTLE system as I am using a Dual Socket motherboard. An I7-8700 on one used as BIG cores, and a humble I3-8300 for the lighter tasks. So. Uhm. Yeah, that'd be 16 cores PC coupled with 32 GB of ram, and I made sure the north bridge can be used also as Socket controller. Not much of control other than that, 2 GTX 1080TI OCed to 2.1 GHz and other gaming goodies in my PC, I reach a TDP of around 160? But I got a powerful cooling system.
I am a proffesional gamer. And do some game building (3D JRPG ^^;) a bit of video editing and Composing Music, mainly OSTs. And a bit of fan DJing.
Kiyasuriin, 04 Oct 2018I see. I5-8250u? Or a true flagship SoC of Intel?A true flagship. 45W TDP. My laptop is a gaming laptop. But I also do video editing, Photoshop, Premiere Pro and After Effects. Those KabyLake-R are pretty much only PR because the low TDP can't be sustained with all 4 cores. Turbo Boost v3 or Max or whatever they called it.
ProJames, 04 Oct 2018Lol we all know you don't know anything. You don't know anything about technology. You just re... moreWell no some old tech are better than new one but in this case Windows 10 is a lot better than windows 7 and wireless tech is better than wired one.
To the confusion on why "b" is 1 and "a" is 2, I would bet they call it on the speed. "a" can get the same up to 54Mb/s of "g" but with the 5GHz band. "g" makes sense to stay at 3 tho given it's the best of both the former standards, speed of the shorter ranged, range of the slower one.
What I don't get is where the heck stands "ad", the weird 60GHz one that is older than ax but speed wise between ax and ac...
Conspiracy Theorist, 04 Oct 2018The versioning system doesn't matter because what truly matters is just the plan you are on or... moreNot only that. If you use file transfers or media streaming via local network on your house, then the connection between the device and router/station is even more important than what tells your speed on the monthly bill.
In my case, it's only 35Mb/s internet connection, but a 300mb/s to my router on 2.4GHz and 150Mb/s to devices on 5GHz, which could go up to either 450Mb/s on 2.4 or 866 (or what was the exact number) on 5GHz.
That exaggerated difference between Internet speed and local network allows me to sync files quickly enough and stream videos form my PC without any issues, as fast as if it was stored on the device's own memory.
Not to mention that if your router can't keep up with your Internet speed, namely to be properly reliable it has to be at least twice the speed, it just won't allow the full Internet speed. You have to consider the protocol overhead on top of it.
CptPower, 04 Oct 2018Man not a chance. Windows 7 is dead it get no more updates nothing where 10 is last and fina... moreWired technologies will always be superior to wireless in absolute terms. What wireless has going for it is convenience and that it's generally "good enough" for the average consumer.
The versioning system doesn't matter because what truly matters is just the plan you are on or the Mbps offered by your local internet provider.
We don't pay attention to the version numbers but what we pay attention to is the speed of the Wi-Fi.
Kiyasuriin, 04 Oct 2018You are aware that 10 is BASED on 7? They have the same UI pretty much just 10 uses Materialis... moreYeah I know it's based on 7. Actually it's based on Vista lol. Windows NT 6.4 but renamed to NT10. But I think it has become heavily bloated. I have been using both and 7 is faster. 10 consumes much more resources such as always-on DWM. Note that I'm using a high performance laptop and not some old dual core 45nm i3 or a Core 2 Duo (even if I have seen some Core2 Duo perform admirably on Windows 7 and suffer on Windows 10)

You don't know anything about technology. You just repeat over and over again that new tech is necessarily better tech while I have proven that it's not always the case.
