Anonymous, 09 Nov 2011the most expensive mid end device ever:(Well, that's very subjective...
The core SoC is mid-end, but many other aspects of the hw are far from that.
And it has a mid-end SoC because it can get by with that.
Whereas OS's that aren't as tightly integrated, cannot.
z, 09 Nov 2011wait, 699eru for a phone that dont even have an app store?? Of course it has an app store, & many other avenues, thanks to the FLOSS community.
Ask at talk.maemo.org or forum.meego.com & folks will point you to several places you can check-out.
2 central sources, but many other handy little avenues.
AnonD-26818, 08 Nov 2011700 Euro which equals 1000 dollar! Its wierd why GSMarena didn't mock of this unreasonable pr... moreHuh. My NAM N8 I'm typing on right this moment was built in Finland. The Philippines market N8 under my bad is made in China. So you're half right. Foxconn's own brand of Motherboard are dogsh1t
[deleted post]You are so clueless on so many levels...
MeeGo that the N9 runs, is actually Maemo 6x.
Nokia never made the switch to MeeGo proper.
Yes MeeGo died in Feb (or slowed considerably), but Harmattan never did.
Harmattan was/is still being actively developed for "at least" another 6mth until PR1.2.
Konttori even recently hinted at other major updates beyond that.
So I suspect it's gaining extra shelf-life thanks to the Meltemi project (Google that).
Plus Nokia has officially committed support until 2015.*
Which means minor-updates, & bug/sec/per/-fixes until that time!
I was surprised by 2015, I suspect they meant Jan 1st.
But heck even if it was only till Oct 2013, that'd be way above the industry avg!
As for your false claim about Harmattan being less feature-packed than the other OS's
You clearly have not read the countless reviews from the major blogs.
"Every single one" claims it's very competitive, if not more feature-packed (esp. compared to WP).
The only caveat they usually add, is that WP is now Nokia's primary platform.
And they only say that because Meltemi is still a rumor, but a credible one nonetheless.
MeeGo proper recently got a boost thanks to the NEMO & Tizen projects.
Do your research around them....
*various lvls of management have confirmed this (inc Elop) several times now.
It'll be a failure with this price tag, you can get SGS II for a lower price. I can't understand Nokia's philisophy with latest handsets (N9, Lumia 800) - they should do everythig to become popular again but those price tags will kill them. Premium price for what - lower specs than the competition? Silly. The price is the same/higher also than iPhone 4S without contract. RIP Nokia.
AnonD-3575, 09 Nov 2011how can meego be dead when it will get more updates than most android phones???
where's the l... moreIt's sad I know, alas people have bought into the hype.
And because of that, the N9 will be niche at best.
But we can still enjoy it, while others remain clueless.
It'll def. be a better kind of niche this time round than the N900.
ninjabass66, 08 Nov 2011Maemo needs WhatsappWho cares it now has these two options....

http://nokiagadgets.com/2011/11/05/liveprofile-popular-messenger-app-coming-to-s40-s60-symbian3-meego/
Same sort of system but better in many ways (not proprietary etc).
Tom, 08 Nov 2011What kinda an app will get MeeGo if Symbian already geting less and less ... most are made for... moreI've not yet found anything lacking WRT apps.
Sure it's not hundreds of thousands...
But that's irrelevant so long as every app you want is available.
If you know all the spots to look, you'll find everything you'd need.
Plus the built-in functionality of Harmattan is 2nd-to-none.
I know this because I use Android/iOS heavily, & have played with WP lots.
The latter is not even close to iOS/Android yet in terms of built-in functionality.
It's slick & efficient, but it's still quite feature deficient.
That will/may change with WP8x....
how can meego be dead when it will get more updates than most android phones???
where's the logic there
Crazy prise. Who want to pay that money for this phone, maybe Nokia will not maintain this platform in future.
Money is not a problem for me. I just want to know how the app store is for this OS. The phone looks very good.
Tom, 08 Nov 2011What kinda an app will get MeeGo if Symbian already geting less and less ... most are made for... moreSay wat ava... Home work was bst done by NOKIA as compare 2 Samsung n th others...
N9 is one of da bst phone ever... It need not a dualcore or a quadcore...
Its a thng that every1 vl admit that its the bst if they gt there hands on it...
699€ seriously??!! At this price it is going to be a failure!
Nokia put android in this phone and your balance sheet will change !!
wait, 699eru for a phone that dont even have an app store??
the most expensive mid end device ever:(
I wish the Lumia 800 also comes out in this glossy white.
Looks simply gorgeous!!!
if the people aren't confident with thier product's quality, they don't buy. vise versa. People buy samsung because they trust the brand name of sammy and confident with thier quality.
Who sold the most smartphones around the world? Samsung, of course. It's only sammy hatters whining about quality of sammy's mobiles should realise their phones quality can't compete with most of sammy's phones.
Tizen Takeover, 09 Nov 2011Actually the Tmo GS2 does lag a bit. I demoed it in store and just scrolling through the menus... moreOh, great you used a display phone which probably was abused by many people and concluded it lags a bit.
Get a real man, GS2 doesn't lag and many reviews support that.
it is too much expensive, I'd rather get the iphone on this price range.
