Right, 07 Oct 2018You are right about audio recording in videos, it was horrible. However I have been testing so... moreThanks. Found the thread. Apparently a rooted phone is required? Well their bootloader unlock times aren't looking good but I'll try.
Android 8.1 is not a superior thing of Redmi Note 6 Pro. Since the Redmi Note 5 pro has already been updated to Android 8.1 (and MIUI 10 also)
a little expensive, I still use note 4x which is still very good. it's time to upgrade to 18:9 phones
realme 2 is the winner
Where do the notification icons appear?... in notch portion or below the notch (after hiding the notch)... What happens when there are 4-5 notifications... Can I see all notification icons or only 2-3? Can you please post screenshots?
Sounds like a Redmi Note 5 "Pro" to me but too bad that the name is already taken by the Indian market for the Redmi Note 5 (AIDC). Strangely there's no regular Redmi Note 6 this time around and Xiaomi immediately went ahead with the Pro variant for the RN6 line
Well this is sad! This is not much of an improvement over Note 5 pro. They should at least have gone with SD 660 to give people a reason to upgrade. It also has the same generic design we've been seeing in Mi phones since forever! Gotta say, I'm not impressed
Ugly like iPhone X.
AnonD-555274, 07 Oct 2018He meant the device's Android Version at release. What this means is this: You got your last '... moreTotally irrelevant.
You're in October 2018 now, not living in the past. For someone looking to buy a new phone today, the decision between the RN5 Pro and the RN6 Pro cannot be based on which Android version they're running, since they're running the same thing.
Both devices have identical screen width, so video size (16:9) is going to be the same. However, the older RN5 actually has a slightly smaller body, so it actually has a slightly higher Screen-to-Body ratio. Not to mention the older version has FM Radio and an Aluminium Unibody.... this new version removes the FM Radio, and has a Plastic Unibody (with an Aluminium Back).
All in all, the RN6 Pro is cheaper to build, is actually a slight downgrade, comes at a higher price, and is 9 months later. All in all, skip this release... get the Xiaomi PocoF1 instead !
Redmi note 5 Notch version.

However I have been testing some things with one user from XDA forums and he came up with a patch for that, now the AGC algorhitm (Automatic Gain Control) which amolified the sound and turned down bass is completely off and audio bitrate is raised to 192kbps, and the audio recording is now really really crisp and clear! You wouldn't believe that the sound comes from device this cheap.
It turns out that Xiaomi has done a lot of stuff on purpose through software to make the device "feel" cheaper, but actually the components used are generally very good.

Remove the notch. Add a better chipset (710?) and some hardware/software fine-tuning (horrendous audio recording on the RN5pro). And you have a real upgrade. Not this poor excuse of a dress up. (C'mon xiaomi, you should know! You released poco.)
Super budget phone.

What this means is this: You got your last 'Upgrade' to Oreo and RN6 will get Pie as its last 'Upgrade'. Btw, whatever he wrote remains same for all 'Redmi' devices, so why write it at all?
micro usb should go
