Itaintrite, 20 Oct 2018Zoom in and that nature photo at 27mm ISO 50 looks like it was run through Prism. ISO 50. Ugh.... morelol, took me a second to realize you meant "Prisma", but I agree with you, the grass in the last nature shot looks flat and waxy, very much like P20P behavior, they still haven't learned. This is probably more Huawei and Huawei's fanboys' preference for smearing than an actual technical limitation.

AnonD-632062, 18 Oct 2018"Turned Off?!" OIS, unlike EIS, is not something you can turn off. It is a mechanical arrangem... morePlease.
You heard of IBIS in ILCs? About the exact same thing as the OIS in phone cameras except the sensor is stabilized instead of a lens group. Not only can the IBIS in my a7RII be turned off, the option could be mapped to a shortcut.
OF COURSE IT COULD BE TURNED OFF.
And no that's not what I'm saying, what I'm saying is that neither P20P nor Mate20P has the OIS enabled on the main sensor.

Well, these are horrible conditions to make a photo shoot, it's only logical that the camera would fail compared to say an SLR with a sensor as big as all 3 lenses with the flash on the back of that phone...

The last Oracle, 18 Oct 2018You do or did not ever have a P20 Pro. Prove it with photos. And don't take photos with someon... moreLOL at people thinking that everything that is not according to their perception must be a lie.
As I said - their camera is more of a hype than anything else. And it does make you look like wax figure.

AnonD-632062, 18 Oct 2018"Turned Off?!" OIS, unlike EIS, is not something you can turn off. It is a mechanical arrangem... moreOIS can be turned off.
You will find that option on proper cameras or lenses with OIS.
And you should, while using a tripod.
What it can't be is added in software update if the hardware doesn't support it. Wheras EIS can, since it is a software feature.

Anyway, so are you saying that the P20 Pro has OIS in main camera, but the Mate 20 Pro does not?

Anonymous, 17 Oct 2018Well, all shots are 8MP. With this resolution they were supposed to look nicer. Can... moreUnless there's considerable improvement from P20P's 40MP shots, they will be generally worse than 10MP shots with a slight advantage in detail, but not nearly proportional to the resolution gain.

The texture looks about as bad as P20P and from DR of the UWA shots I assume that Huawei doesn't have anything like Apple's SmartHDR even though they do have an NPU with slightly lower but comparable performance.

I hope the quality will be better, on the final release products, because these images are nowhere flagship-grade. I´m starting to get disappointed, because I had high expectations for this device.

Yay to ultra wide-angle! Pity none of the in-camera solutions (by any brand so far) quite match up to the quality of their other lenses in the same unit (look at the left and right edges of photos to see the notable drop in resolved detail and image 'stretch'). The best ultra wide I've ever used on a phone was the dedicated Samsung S7 lens case with screw in lens attachments.
