Translate that to a VR Heaset and your eyes are tricked into making it seem to you that you are actually in the room - as you turn your head you can look to the sides, and behind , up at the ceiling, down at the floor so you the whole room, not just an image of part of it. That is with proper VR content. If you are using it to watch a movie, the image can appear to be the size of a movie theater screen, not a little 50" TV.
Really, reading about it is inadequate, you need to actually experience it.
evh, 24 Oct 2018No it isn't. It is percieved ppi because of the new Anti SDE technology. The real ppi is 628...I know. Whatever the real ppi is your eyes still see the 'perceived' 1233 ppi no matter what. You cannot unsee it. Because that is what the Anti SDE tech does.
Anonymous, 24 Oct 2018what's on your mind captain? For whats good are theses if we can use TV or PC monitor instead. Whats special here. I am lack of experience.
I have oculus go the point is you can watch 60" tv while lying down. It is GO thou, this tethered device with PC probably for gaming only cant image strapping this, sitting on chair watching movie.

Oh people do we really needs theses???
I mean screen on a home TV in many households is 50-60 inches,
PC monitors are 21-28 maybe 30 inches.
Whats good on having theses???
I am still awaiting dual 4k+ screens.
I would also like to see the Movie industry see the potential in "VR" headsets, and start releasing 4K3D movies.... Posssibly 4K+3D for Imax like experience.
HDR and high framerate.
The format also need support for connecting multiple units despite copyright protection, for social movie watching.
AR support with cameras on the headset, for social watching, and reaching for the snack bowl and such.
Luxor, 23 Oct 20181233ppi. Yup, not a typo. Thats a lot. Woah. That's like.....hmmmm
*Counts on fingers*
7 to 8k?
Samsung Display might be the best division Samsung has though copying surrounding pixels might not always look good. What's the resolution anyway?
