AnonD-30573, 16 Nov 2011Well, HTC Desire is outdated and Nokia Lumia 800 is a new phone.in terms of specs, there aren't much difference. It's sad that new nokia phone can't even match to somewhat 2 years old phone.
The Truth, 16 Nov 2011WP7 truly is a failure but will rise because of nokia because in certain countries like india,... moreThe futurs is in India, Pakistan and other vibrate countries. Not USA that is on the brink to revoltion and bankrupcy.
Nokia will survive and especially Android will face problem.
Anonymous, 16 Nov 2011Android is still no where near the stability of iOS. An app on iOS can crash itself but it can... moreI don't own an android phone, but I really don't think that an app can crash the os. I've never seen such thing on linux (unless it was a hardware problem), so I find it very hard to believe.
I also hate iPhone (I find it very stupid phone), but that doesn't mean that I throw stones on it: it is a good phone after all, with a good and stable os (very likely to be the best os for mobile right now, but I still don't like it).
So, when you make a comment, at least make it impartial :P
Got my Nokia Lumia 800 yesterday and must say that this fone is HOT! Last fone was HTC Desire with Android but the WP7 is much more funktional and smooth than Android. After using WP7, Android feels outdated.
WP7 truly is a failure but will rise because of nokia because in certain countries like india, pakistan, etc the people believe that nokia is the only mobile brand and other brands are just tiny substitutes
Cod3rror, 16 Nov 2011LOL! That was hilarious!
Nokia is finished, they've been making a mistake after mistake sin... moreToo early (and stupid) to say WP7 is a failure just because android's had a good run in the past year.
Apple had been making computers for over 20 years before they suddenly because "the coolest company on earth".
HTC had been making boring smartphones for O2, imate, Dopod and others for years before launching their own phones in 2006 when they finally got noticed!
Agreed that WP7 does need more work, but live tiles are NOT a failure; and just because you don't like them doesn't make them the reason no one's bought them.
Android's the fastest growing NOT because it is stable or fast or any technical spec; the average person doesn't give a hoot about such things.
It is growing simply because its free; and therefore anyone who wants - from Samsung to a small factory in China run by exploited children - can make phones running android.
Android is still no where near the stability of iOS. An app on iOS can crash itself but it cannot crash iOS or reboot phone (if you have these then it's a hardware issue, go replace your phone). Apps on android can cause reboot and shutdown on your phone. I have a SGS, G2X, SGS2 and iPhone4S that are rooted and jailbroken. I have tried many quality games on Android, like Dungeon Defenders, Order & Chaos, Eternal Legacy, The Sims 3, Gun Bros, Sprinkle, Fruit Ninja ect.. and they all run better on iphone.
[deleted post]True BUTTT you must've forgotten that Meego/Tizen has Alien Dalvik that can run most Android Apps. Use that until the Apps get moving with Tizen
Wonder whats bugging SE? They have the same trailblazing Android OS.. and swear ICS on their latest phones. And still not having any luck grabbing huge part of the market. Just a thought on the struggling manufacturer. What's wrong SE?
Duhhhh...it's bec they are cheap...they give them away like candy in the US!
Well nokia down fall is for a great uprise not to be a fan of nokia but those who are blind to see their maketing strategy right now oh well. But its clear and visible to see what the market holds for them in 2012 Great Work!!
Anonymous, 15 Nov 2011these numbers are b4 nokia 5800. it will change the game
these numbers are b4 n8's launch. n8... moreLOL! That was hilarious!
Nokia is finished, they've been making a mistake after mistake since 2006, that's takes talent. The last they got lucky they got the N9, a phone with a real potential and they killed it themselves.
WP7 is a failure, it's UI is absolutely boring! Black background with squares on it, or a black background with an oversized text on it. The tiles are also a failure, they are not better than Android's widgets cause they are space restricted, so they are not good as widgets and they are too large for icons and they are also supposed to replace notifications for user, guess what? WP7 users are asking for a notification menu like in iOS and Android, that means WP7's UI is a failure.
The sales will only go down further, Nokia will not save Microsoft, Nokia cannot save themselves.
Elop killed Nokia, LOL at "differentiation" on WP7, they all look the same, at least with Android they could've created a Nokia skin for their phones, like HTC Sense and Samsung TouchWiz.
Now one thing all brands has to mind that they have to improve them battery life otherwise customer will select the best battery phone as new OS needs more power to perform,,,, all brands have to maintain hardware and software ,,,, they cannot fool the buyer as all specs in detailed are available here on gsmarena,,,,
Nokia lumia 800 would have been amazing with bigger screen and wp7 having wifi hotspot options. Also whens dual core coming to wp7 devices?
For the WP7 naysayers, may I remind you that Q3 was a transition from NoDo to Mango, and it's only now that the first handsets are being delivered with Mango pre-loaded.
No doubt MS has an uphill battle to ensure WP7 has a good presence, but it's not as though WM6.x ever had a big market share and they were quite supportive of that. Nowadays the smartphone market is bigger as a whole; MS is making money on Android, which can subsidise incentives to developers for WP7; and all the important smartphone makers (except Apple, of course) are making WP7 handsets.
I bought a HTC Trophy just to try out WP7.5, before my plan runs out and I have to decide on a new handset. For me, a phone is a tool not a toy and whether it's watching video podcasts, browsing a web forum or site, simple SMS messaging or maintaining my expenses spreadsheet, synchronised with Skydrive - WP7.5 makes it almost too easy. I barely seem to use the phone because everything's just so quick and easy to get done!
