I'm tired of all this "X is copying designs from Y" cat calls.
There's only so many basic ways to design a touchscreen bar phone -
1. with straight lines (Lumia 800, Xperia Ray, Droid)
2. Straight with rounded edges (iPhone, Galaxy, some LG)
3. Rounded all the way (small chubby Xperia, BB Bold)
4. Arcs and curves (Nexus, SE Arc)
All designs are slight adaptations of the above, with changes to button position, screen sizing and glass cover.
I wish ppl didn't fight like they owned Samsung or Nokia or whatever...
Anonymous, 17 Nov 2011about time Nokia tries to get back on track...my i8910 samsung phone software and its support ... moreThat's quite funny, because Omnia HD(i8910) is equipped with Symbian. Yeap, the symbian from Nokia and that was the last time Samsung uses symbian on thier phones.
Nokia commits to update symbian for Omnia HD, because they want more phones use Symbian instead of Window Mobile. But as we all know Symbian and WM were both failed in terms of global sales(smartphone market) and Samsung left Symbian.
If you aren't satisfied with your Omnia HD software then Nokia is one to be blamed.
PS. now you remind me of Omnia HD, Nokia 900 is very similar to Omnia HD(which came out ahead of Xperia X10), but hey you don't have many options when you design touch-screen samrtphones. Definitely can be influenced by others.
I can not see the video "this video is private"?
an odd feeeling it doesnt really look SE arc, its realy a x3-02 look-a-like, i dont know why are they calling it a copycat with arc. its x3-02, come have a look
about time Nokia tries to get back on track...my i8910 samsung phone software and its support is the worst in the industry (hardware does not work without software)...if the new nokia hardware (nokia software by default is normally always great) is up to par with the industry I will definitely buy it...it needs to have ~ 4 inch cap. high end amoled at >250ppi, >8mp cam with >720hd vdo 30fps and >aac recording...and a good sound chip on par with industry flat freq response from 20 to 20khz...only the iphone 4 and galaxy s2, etc. is on par or exceeds these specs but only in some categories
its not a copycat its more of a x3-02 design, with a speaker at the bottom. compare it dude! nokia will never copy any design. its proven, they have the best phone design unlike htc, SE, samsung , they all have just one pattern of design.
LOOOKS like my x3-02 hahaha.. this is my next toy.
-------------------- take a look... this smartphone is Nokia ARC S... somehow look a like of xperia arc.
Well let's wait for the next Symbian Carla and Symbian Donna (with support for dual core) those updates looks promising for the next generation of Nokia Symbian Phones (including Next N8 successor) :D
I've been reading all your comments going back & forth and back & forth.. I just find it amusing, almost bordering on hilarious.
These are phones, cellphones, smartphones, communication tools. It's good you're displaying passion for these devices.
But in the grand scheme of things, does it really matter? All our choices are based on our preferences. And we all have a different set of preferences.
So if one prefers an Android phone made by HTC or Samsung, is he any better than someone that has chosen an iPhone or a Curve or a WP7 by Nokia as their personal communication device?
Bottom-line. No. These are just our personal preferences.
Anonymous, 16 Nov 2011It's an official : Nokia is a copycat wait...but, SE fails with Xperia and Arc series. This... moreNokia is never a copycat..SE is not a copycat either. Both company have their own original idea of how things should work. Apart from these two, HTC is original as well. Samsung and LG most of the time tend to copy if not all at least a few things from other manufacturer's design. And about the phone, i think it look nice..even though dual-core or quad core is not really needed in mobile yet, for me it is something overrated..but just for the sake of having better reviews from the geeky reviewer site, i think Nokia should implement dual-core and Full-HD video recording in this phone. But that is something for Nokia to decide. Design wise, this phone looks great.
Anonymous, 16 Nov 2011It seems all manufactures except Samsung & Apple leek, announce and release the high-end p... moreSamsung release countless phones, most often they're just a modification of a previous model such as a S-LCD version, different processor or network veriant designs. Apple only ever have a few phones on the market at any one given time and they have a fan base whom are enthusiastic about the OS to back that from the word go, especially as the first iphone brought multitouch to the playground...
I agree this design does resemble that of the xperia arc and even has pretty much the same hardware as the arc s variant on the inside, however when you consider that it is the OS that limits it to its hardware it is most definitely at the higher end of the WP7 tier. Furthermore it has an amoled screen which is often more favorable over LCD.
ps there's the galaxy nexus, which is due for global release soon and aside from the camera and a few hardware differentials, it's essentially a slightly better GS2.

[deleted post]Tell that to the market share which strongly disagrees with your statement there.

wait...but, SE fails with Xperia and Arc series. This... moreSE Arc was not a fail at all.
It is still the best selling line in Japan.
They're just not fond of shitty/geeky looking duo core models ala GSII.
