why do these fanboys kept whining abt symbian. look at nexus s. its official support is dead after just more than a year just like n8. so what r u guys complaining abt?yes der will b custom roms for nexus s, but n8 will have it too just like my 5800 running Anna. look at yourself first b4 looking at others.

I have a feeling Symbian is going to live after all. By the time Donna comes out, Microsoft wouldn't be able to force WP exclusivity on Nokia. Who knows, the next big disruption may come from Symbian itself.

its not with symbian alone,with android also only dual core phones and some 1ghz above single core phones will have ICS update,after ics i suppose there wont be any update for single core phones,so things are pretty even.

One wonders why Nokia keep announcing new models of an OS that's already planned for retirement.
The very idea that "Symbian is dying" keeps be away from the Anna/Belle phones and gearing me towards WP7 or Android.
Why anyone in their right minds would buy a Carla or Donna in 2014, just a couple of years before it becomes a relic, is beyond me!

You can't thing of getting major updates everytime they are launched. N8's processor is slow and RAM is low, to handle even Belle, so Nokia is trying hard to make it run on older devices. Asking for Carla and Donna on N8 is like asking for Anna on 5800. I've got a 5800 but I don't think about getting Anna on it, because I know that Anna needs more power.
Why can't this simple thing get through your skull!? N8 can't handle future updates, like a PC with 256 MB RAM and 1.5 GHz Pentium 4 can't handle Vista or 7.

Finally, nokia is also going to fool people with its dual core symbian phones while symbian is at the edge of dead.... Lol.... Only 2 or less years support for dual core processor....
They should adopted MeeGo instead of windows as android apps are also supported in MeeGo .... All goes to elop, working for improvement of microsoft os.... Like others nokia should've used meego as major platform and windows phone as secondary platform....

Symbian^3 and Anna owner don't have to worry because even though Symbian Belle might be the last major update which change your OS to a whole different version (something like upgrading Windows Vista to Windows 7 in your PC), the minor upgrade specific to each phone or OS version still will be rolling until 2016. Minor updates like fixing bugs, camera enhancement to specific model (like what n8 is having now), memory management improvement and more. So no worries. Even then, if you think logically, i don't think you can expect yourself to use your phone bought in 2010-2011 to be used until 2016. Even if you do use it until 2016 and more, it is common for any product/devices (not just Nokia, but other brand as well) not to have anymore support after 5-6 years after its release. So think logically before slamming Symbian is dead OS and no one should buy it right now because currently, this is only year 2011..so still have at least 5 years to go. Think guys think. But of course if you like Android or iOS, just buy Android phones or iPhone because you like it, but don't say because Symbian is dead. Simple.

Nokia phones released 4years ago still gets updates. They name the improvements in names so symbian 3 phones will still get updates to the end of 2016 and supported. Nokia is the best when it comes to supporting older models.
Doesn´t matter what youy call the updates.
belle is the plattform for the older symbian 3 phones and it is great well in line with newest android.
You can relyon nokia to take care og your newer phones.

Why dont you try to use nokia low end phones no problem on updates or whatsoever..whats the pont of arguing here..
