What Mobile are laughable. They don't even like the Galaxy S II. Smartphone Essentials is the mobile mag to read.

The award was voted on by the magazine's readers during the month of October - before they even get to touch the Nokia Lumia 800.

I can feel the frustration of Nokia fanboys. Voting for a phone that they've never seen in person. ridiculous.

The fact that the new nokia got a reward will not say its has been compared with other flagships..again i can only say that the construction and material quality is topnotch. the suoftware is amazingly fast and smooth.at least at fast as the SGS II, maybe faster ..sure as hell faster than the Iphone 4 . personnaly, i like a bigger screen and i find the screen to sensitive and i am not a big fan of mango ..but beside that the phone is great !

ooohhh ..if any of you need to know more ore specific questions .. i have a working demo lumia standing here at 5 feet distance....

Great phone, great specs. The phone is very aesthetic and looks very dynamic. Incredible processor and the interfaces are very easy to navigate through. Design is also great and the lay-out for the tiles in the mainscreen is very easy to use. I have to agree with 'Tune' regarding the sensitivity. I also experienced opening an app, while I intended to scroll up/down. Overall, this is a great phone to use for private and casual usage. I would definitely recommend it. :)

Would you buy a Mercedes, Audi Porsche or BMW which has years of manufacturing, Precision and experience in the automobile industry or would you get a Hyundai, Kia or Chevrolet even though they give you a slightly more powerful engine with advance GPS and entertainment unit.

One man's meat is another man's poison. For those who don't like the Lumia 800, too bad. For those who like it well good for you. Nokia has finally came out with a phone which give he other OS's a run for their money.

Anyway let's face it without these competitions between phone manufacturer's we won't be getting such high end and high spec's devices.

For me personally my opinion is,

1. iPhone- Not so great, limited things that the phone can do. Remove the 3G or wifi connection, the phone is handicapped. (I'm a Mac fanatic by the way for 14 years) But this phone is no where near their computer Apple Computers.

2. Android- Unpolished, Apps crashing, Battery life not long enough for a mobile device although it's CPU is fast. Open many apps and it slows down.

3. Windows- Simple, fresh, Very light OS, agree abit too simple on the user interface with just squares. Battery life good.

Basically it's the best combination from the World Most Popular Computer Software Company (Microsoft) and the World's Biggest and Most Popular Phone Manufacturer with years under their belt (Nokia).

Deadly combination if you ask me.

Just my 2 cents.

right now Nokia is so down, that they are trying to catch everyone's attention, that they are buying this judges, like a beauty pageant, they already crowned someone who doesn't even make it to the ramp and when she is being asked with a question her answer were a dumb ones.. This thing is JOKE!!!!

The folks over at What Mobile are either on crack or have been given a generous donation by Nokia.
Seriously, no one even has the phone, reviewers haven't even evaluated it, and these guys are calling it The mobile of the year. Based on sales ? No. Apple would take that. Based on looks? The n900 might take that one.
Anyone who has played with Windows Mango phones (from both htc and samsung)knows that they are at least behind what iOS and android. Nokia's Lumia will not differ in significant way from other Winmo phones except in its physical shape. So how much was What Mobile paid to make their crazy claim ?

I also thought to myself that for the Nokia 800 to win such an award was rather too soon so I had to visit the source to confirm n surprise surprise GSMarena has it all wrong, the Nokia 800 is the Editors Choice and not the Mobile Phone of the year which the SG2 has won!!

This piece of news looks like it had ulterior motives, how can one confuse the 2 when written in bold. Follow the link n see what I'm saying!!

"The award sounds all fishy, but it may be just us. Voting for a phone you've never seen in person? Now that's beyond us. Plus we hardly see the "real innovation" in the Lumia 800 that the magazine editor speaks of. We guess, it's one of those things."

lol even GSMArena found something fishy is going around here.

Anonymous, 18 Nov 2011GS2 has 2 1.2 ghz cpus. how can this be better? Cause there are and will be a handful of game... morenow see your making a wrong point, in a world were future in this business an endless innovation, you much rather have a device that can compete with the upcoming phones rather than a phone that is only for this year, think about it, i don't care if its running an average game for this time but in the future, this sgs2 will still knock off those hard brutal specs game android market will be making unlike this so called phone of the year, note: only this year if it even deserves to be called such one, lumia 800 don't deserve this award
