Actully there is more to the quote then what they are showing, Jobs was quoted as saying that "the iPhone is the most advanced phone ever"

      http://www.cbc.ca/technology/story/2007/10/17/tech-iphone-unlock.html

All I say to that is, have you seen an N95 ? or some of the top end Sony's and Samsung's?

iPhone is the most advanced OPERATING SYSTEM, but phone, no. nothing new there.

well let the programmers build some cool usefull programs for this boring version of the iPhone, then buy the programs for a few dollars, to include them in the nex generation.
This iPhone just turned in to something, a developers platform, now it finally makes sense... hope many programmers get the ipod 4GB, now when its cheap and going out of production.

I will probably wait for generation 3 before I even think of getting an iPhone.
By then, it might acctually be a smartphone.. or at least one of the iPhones released that year. I would expect a iPhone Nano, as a development of this iPhone concept, but in a more pocketfriendly format. maybe an Iphone Newton? oh well, we'll se in a couple of years...

If the iPhone had a decent 3mpx camera with auto-focus, I would definitely buy it... Now I'll go for the SonyEricsson W960i.

Improve the camera minimum 3 megapixels, put two speakers, like the N95.
