Can we clear something up........Apple's "retina display" isn't made by apple. It isn't apple tech. LG makes the Iphone retina display. Stop giving apple all the credit for the retina display.

Articles like these help to educate and also bust some of the brainwashing that's gone on in these forums. One, Apple's retina display is still one of the best and others are still looking to match its quality, although some of the AMOLED tech out there certainly give Apple a run for its money. Two, Samsung fanboys will now finally learn that OLED tech was not created by Samsung.

It may take a long time, but bit by bit truth does eventually come out.

ummm excuse but the nexus has 720p resolution currently the only smartphone in the market with the highest resolution, why do you need to mention Apple in every god damn article it's LG's display technology, retina is a dubbed name given by apple to IPS-LCDs.

I though pen-tile matrix helps in battery life. Instead of using 3 leds like in RGB led, using 2 leds consumes less power.

Anyway, the power efficiency of the screen do matter considerably than just wider viewing angles, high contrast/color etc...

LG was one of the early pioneers of oleds so they hold patents as well but who cares its the consumer who benefits.
