I wonder if this is Apple planning to extend their 'narrow contact patch' wireless charger from the new iPad Pro & Pencil to additional devices and accessories.
"just say no, people"
*you feel better
Anonymous, 04 Dec 2018I already mentioned it. Bluetooth accessories (wireless earbuds, wireless headphones) are a lu... moreThere is no wireless trend, just a money making maschine forced into people that use apple products and cannot,mentally, use other type of platform. It is actually the era of apple steve always wanted. Bring users, lock them into platforme, sell them dungles, attract the market to buy your dungles. Well, the second part nwver actually fly, but is enough to go extreme price with a pair of rubish, called headphones. There are way better sound quality in a lot others, a lot cheaper... but that waz never an apple policy...
Yes, why would you let your customers to buy 20€ great headphones when you can.force them to buy your 200€ crappy ones? That won't be apple.
Tech Lover, 04 Dec 2018Well, I think it will still depend on the user. Yes there are alternatives to apple products w... moreFor me it is opposite. I like my Samsung Note much more than any iPhone. But it is user preference and everyone's choice. But there's no reason to increase prices so much. If earphone price increase rumor will be true, then it is ridiculous.
Kangal, 03 Dec 2018It's because Samsung devices have become fragile with glass everywhere, and they're still plag... moreMost of companies are using glass front and back. Even Apple...
And also almost every company straggling with updates compared with Apple and Google. And let's be honest all these updates are so minor that it is not most important anymore, except security updates which most of companies are releasing good!
But that has nothing with apple pricing....
Anonymous, 03 Dec 2018Okay, so why did almost everybody else start removing their headphone jacks?I already mentioned it. Bluetooth accessories (wireless earbuds, wireless headphones) are a lucrative business, especially if you make them operate with proprietary standards - make them charge only wirelessly (no wired option) with a proprietary non-Qi compatible charging mat. To add to that, you dispose them faster too, because of their sealed batteries that have limited service life and because manufacturers can easily make them sound awful with a software update on your phone - or make them incompatible/unsupported with your phone brand/model when you buy a competing brand or when it's time to upgrade your phone or your Bluetooth accessory. That's planned obsolescence. However, they will never admit this sinister motive and just say it's a 'courageous' act to 'usher in' the wireless future.
Now some other android manufacturers just follow Apple blindly without coming up with their own line of overpriced bluetooth accessories. They just follow because the 'no wires' trend initiated by Apple makes their brand 'fashionable' like the newest 'trendsetting' iphones.

Yes there are alternatives to apple products which are more affordable, but for me, as both an android and iOS user, I will still choose iOS as my daily driver not because its more expensive or it is the latest, but I think it is more reliable for my daily use. I only have my android device as a back up if ever I forgot to charge my iPhone or I want download and watch movies. Although I'm still bummed that my Samsung S9 still is not on the latest android firmware.
AnonD-771260, 03 Dec 2018Hopefully people will start to wake up from all this applemania.
They have nice and good pro... moreIt's because Samsung devices have become fragile with glass everywhere, and they're still plagued with slow updates or no updates. Then you switch over to Google, and realise they've nixed the Nexus lineup and in return they've removed specs and features, went with a quirky design, jacked up the prices, and called them the Pixels.
There's compromises anywhere you look.
The only devices that interested me since my Samsung Note 3/4, is the ZTE Axon7, Samsung S8 Active, and ASUS RoG Phone. Everything else had a major flaw one way or another (Nexus 6p had bad quality issues, and wasn't durable).
Hopefully people will start to wake up from all this applemania.
They have nice and good products but price increase for all new products are just ridiculous. People need to understand that there are alternatives and price is lower not because alternatives are worst...
Anonymous, 03 Dec 2018This is the main reason why Apple removed the 3.5mm headphone jack... so that it can sell you ... moreOkay, so why did almost everybody else start removing their headphone jacks?
AirPods 2 - now finally with toothbrush feature
Anonymous, 03 Dec 2018This is the main reason why Apple removed the 3.5mm headphone jack... so that it can sell you ... more^ This.
You get it. Most Apple sheeple are still in the dark.
"Harmless" Bluetooth radiation. LOL! They just keep throwing away their money for the next one once the battery is degraded.
Which is why I will never buy an Apple product ever again. I'm ok with my MacBook Air (2016) and iPhone SE. I can't stand iOS anyway.
For me to get the Apple Watch Series 4, I need my iPhone to be on iOS12. I hate when they try to force us to update. It's an endless cycle of planned obsolescence.
Apple raising already ultra high prices? Never heard such thing. Fans will buy it and brag about how nice, and expensive, it is. Shareholders rejoice.
All I want is for the earpods to have a rubber coating, or for me to place a rubber cover on them & still fit the charger.
Trooper, 03 Dec 2018"Electronic ear-tampons will be 60% more expensive due to GREED."
There, I fixed that for you...exactly!
This is the main reason why Apple removed the 3.5mm headphone jack... so that it can sell you obscenely overpriced Airpods with ever increasing prices annually as there is always a reason to throw away the old one due to:
1. Deteriorated battery resulting to frequent charging and limited listening time;
2. Due to 'new' features like wireless charging, fast charging, bigger batteries, better waterproofing, slimmer, light weight design, etc.;
3. Due to pseudo-technological advances like better Hey Siri integration, faster/newer/more premium internal components, newer operating system, build quality, blah, blah, blah.
It's really no different from the Apple watch 'buy now' dispose one year later sales strategy. Make everything digital and proprietary so there's always a reason to upgrade because there will always be a newer operating system to deal with that becomes obsolete and/or incompatible 'new feature' if you don't upgrade as often as the manufacturer would like you too.
After the Airpods upgrade, you'll find out, you actually still needed the 3.5mm headphone jack because it did more than just let you enjoy music through wired headphones/earbuds without thinking about draining the battery, not to mention, several hours music listening without that chronic daily exposure to 'harmless' bluetooth radiation.
That 3.5mm jack actually enabled you to connect your home theater receiver/amplifier to it for music/audio/FM radio playback, your treadmill for loudspeaker playback, your workplace/a friend's sound system, your TV , your PC monitor with built in speakers, your portable or someone else's PC speakers, etc. It makes your phone more versatile and play nice with all those other equipment. Phone manufacturers removed it not because of 'advancement' but because of greed - to sell you annually disposable wireless earbuds/headphones. There's absolutely no reason why your phone can't have both bluetooth and wired audio connection.
Hmm, that's a 96 dollar increase to 160 dollar headphones. So that's about 256 dollars altogether for just wireless charging
I bet they will still sound as shit and the only new feature is wireless charging.. rip.. people who brought the first ones. Saying that they probs saved a few quid unless they upgrade.. and I would find it hard to sell them second hand due to hygiene reasons.. cos you can’t just replace a plastic tip..
They know they can get away with the increase since Airpods are so popular
