Well now that the update is FINALLY available here in the UK I ran it on my wife’s O2x yesterday using the LG updater software (it updates to Android 2.3.4, good news for anyone actually hoping to make use of the front facing camera)

It does appear to have fixed a few bugs, and the overall speed of the phone has increased.

The UI feels more fluid, lag hasn't been completely erased however, and if you use all 7 home screens and fill them with widgets and the like it will still struggle at times, especially if you have a live wallpaper going as well (a problem my GS2 does not have, but then it does have twice the ram)

overall a definite improvement, don't get me wrong it's still inferior to my own Galaxy S2, but at least it now behaves like a dual core device.....most of the time.

does gingerbread users who updated feel a difference ? Any more crashes or random reboots ?
It's very helpfull if someone can confirm this for the people who are interested in a second hand o2x off ebay. With froyo it's crap for sure, lots or restarts and freezes...i hope gingerbread fixed this phone.

The only thing LG should improve at the moment is to make their team of software developers to be more competent and much more effective so that their software in their phone are stable and nicely iron out of the box when the phone been released and also to provide better product support in term of bug fixes and software updates. Nowadays, this is the major thing that attract consumers to buy smartphones. Other department like the hardware part has been great, if not the best, at least they are reliable. The CEO should do something about their software department because they are the one to be blamed for lack of interest from the public towards LG phone.

by th way, LG popularity is dropping sharply, look at the numbers for last quarter, they will soon lose the place as the worlds 3rd biggest cellfone brand, will be overtaken by both ZTE and Apple and then also by Sony and possibly also HTC (but HTC could very well drop more and become a insignificant brand as well, too many problems with all HTC fones)

i just wish i could revert my HTC to 2.2.. Gingerbread should not even be in beta yet, so many bugs and so unstable. My SE Xperia 2.3 has similar problems as my HTC, so surely Gingerbread is to blame. Goggle is going nuts, always new versions cominbg out before the previous version has the worst bugs ironed out.

I suspect 4.0 will be even more unstable and buggy, Android development is going backwards
