EskeRahn, 11 Dec 2018Interesting, actually the previous one I had, had a Nov 7 kernel date. And I see no intermedia... moremine is g955f i got security patch update last week!
MHanz, 11 Dec 2018But of course, they have to slow your phone down that's why they have large updates with no me... moreAndroid brands have no incentive to slow down your phone through updates because consumers can always to buy other brands. The other brand that benefits from this malpractice is Apple. Stop being dumb.
Sony Xperia FOREVER, 11 Dec 2018Updated my Xperia XZ3 last weekend with December security patch.. running Android 9.0 Pie out ... moreIs Android Pie significantly better than Android Oreo? As long as the security updates are up to date and the phone is working properly, there is nothing to complain about. Enjoy your Sony and start looking for other brands to buy in two years' time.
i still dont get it what is with this "security update" and beeing newer and newer.. me personaly i dont care at all.. i can use a phone even with android 5.. and i have no problem at all .. what will happen if u dont have the latest security update? the phone will die? ure soo importand that every hacker in the world try even second to spy your information on your phone ? and what`s exactly soo specian on the phone ? some photos of your cat? and some random dudes phone numbers?
Mbithu, 11 Dec 2018I just one yesterday.
Thought I got the one mentioned on this post but on checking the kernel... moreInteresting, actually the previous one I had, had a Nov 7 kernel date. And I see no intermediate version between that and the one from October in the Source. Could it be that you are on another S8 variant, and the security patched are not released simultaneously?
My S8- is "G950F"
I just one yesterday.
Thought I got the one mentioned on this post but on checking the kernel version,it's dated 23rd October.
Which is to mean,I got the first update, not this new one.
Samsung🤐
Phone was released in March 2017 and is already behind with the latest updates. How typical to try and sell the S9 to those who want to stay up to date. There must be plenty of suckers falling for this....
Alien , 11 Dec 2018Same here. I did this update about 2 weeks ago.. No you did not.... This one got a Kernel date of Nov 30 (but AGAIN on Nov 1 security patch level)
X41, 11 Dec 2018I already got Nov security patch on Nov 15
What is this? No new features? This is a NEW update, still on Nov 1. as the post clearly tells.
(what it is all about is hard to guess)
Furiounx, 11 Dec 2018I also love how they say "Can include....". We all know there's nothing juicy. (Samsung user here)Indeed the standard message on the update has this "can". But if you go to the source, you will see that it does not. it is just the "The security of your device has been improved."
Walking a few updates down, it can be seen that this description can contain more.
Updated my Xperia XZ3 last weekend with December security patch.. running Android 9.0 Pie out of the box, not like other 2018 flagships out of the box with Android 8.1 Oreo lol
X41, 11 Dec 2018I already got Nov security patch on Nov 15 What is this? No new features?Same here. I did this update about 2 weeks ago..
AlienFromNextDoor, 11 Dec 2018November? I'm on September with my S8+ Samsung sucksProbably a branded phone? If yes, don't blame Samsung as unbranded phones get their updates directly pushed from Samsung and branded phones have to wait.
AlienFromNextDoor, 11 Dec 2018November? I'm on September with my S8+ Samsung sucksthis is very bad, considering this is a flagship phone.
Kangal, 11 Dec 2018Yeah.... innovation! /sI also love how they say "Can include....". We all know there's nothing juicy. (Samsung user here)
November? I'm on September with my S8+
Samsung sucks
Furiounx, 11 Dec 2018Half a gigabyte and no security patch or explicit changes?? Yeah.... innovation!
/s
But of course, they have to slow your phone down that's why they have large updates with no meaningful change logs as to why these updates are so bloated. Apple, Samsung, and soon Huawei are all going to do this regularly, regardless of how many fines they incurred internationally for their thieving practices. How else will they force existing users to upgrade?
The informed buyer will force-stop/perma-stop all updates once they feel their current stock ROM is doing all they need.
