The fact that you already have a Note 8 means you shouldn't even have to worry for the next 2 to 3 years of using it, as long as you keep it protected and handled with a lot of care.
I get that you were amazed by the great value proposition of the OP6T, and it's good that you're also trying out some other brands, but I'd have to be honest, if your phone is a flagship or even just a mid range and still not yet 2 years or older after it was released, then it's not worth changing it to a new one, except of course if it was given for free or any other similar circumstances.
Anyway, at the price point of the OP6T, it should've already kept your expectations so low, since it's quite unheard for a SD845-powered phone to be priced that low, but whatever.
I just wanted to mess around, so sorry for that.

About time for someone to introduce a phone with a larger sensor. Then you'll see a real improvement and not ones that are so small as to be within the margin of error.

Same (photo) score with Pixel 2 yet in real-life the difference is really huge. Heck even the OG Pixel destroys its camera.

I own the 6T & I hate it's camera! The side-loaded GCam is much better, takes sharper pictures with lesser noise. The pictures taken by my 6T look way too artificial when zoomed-in. DxO is a lie!

There comes a moment in time when companies spin too much bull carp, that the veil slides, and the general audience begins to see them for what they are.

I think this might be the turning point in Dx0Mark.

We need some unbiased way of testing this field where it pertains to real-world practical uses, just like Prof Gary Sims (Android Authority/Gary Explains) did with the "Speedtest G" to test the practical real-world performance of Android devices.

Anonymous, 20 Dec 2018Huawei is the king of smartphone cameras In photography, and shares the throne with Google as it turns out not so consistent. In videography, however, bye Huawei. Too much features but nearly everything is half baked.

I have a OnePlus 6, my OG Pixel takes far superior photos and videos. OnePlus just doesn't compete with the likes of Apple, Samsung, Pixel, Huawei. Recording video in low/mid lighting conditions with my OnePlus 6 is laughable, almost as if you're recording in pitch black .No matter how much money they throw around trying to convince reviewers it's doesn't come close to the big boys.

You saying that DxOMark gives better scores to all the newer phones is easily wrong. The IPhone XR came out after the Samsung Note 9 and the HTC U12+ and they both have better scores and are both older phones. The Huawei P20 Pro came out before all 3 of them and has a better score than all of them.

whats the point when DxO rate 101 and the photos still show "OIL PAINT" effect in more or less every alternative snap. Worthless to say 1+6T is a camera centric phone, better look for likes of Galaxies or Pixel or even iPhone for picture and video qualities. Waste of DUAL back cam that dont even function with standard API's provided by CAM vendor. The Image processing is still worse when you get out in the night. I am tired this trend on 1+5, 1+5T and 1+6 that I sold within 3 months of purchase. Huge disappointment. Please dont brag that this has blah blah Sensor be it SAMMY or SONY sensor, its all like same on 1+. Huh.. Peace!

What gives? The oneplus 6 and 6t use the same camera sensors. So are they using superior software processing on the 6t? That's super evil.
