Eric, Eric...you and Giggle will never be anything more than second best. Always copying, always cheating. Instead of talking bollocks you'd better prepare for WP invasion. PS: By the way the new Lumia 800 is already ahead of Iphone 4S in Holland.
comparing an OS to a phone?it should be OS vs OS vs phone brand vs phone brand or phone vs phone. it's like comparing apple and oranges.
comparing an OS to a phone? it should be OS vs OS or manufacturer vs manufacturer or phone vs phone
Of course Android is already on top of iPhone. Here is why: we are all different and with various needs; all iPhones are the same and have limited features; Android is feature rich and comes in a broad range of shapes an colors.

I guess no one's contract expired in 2011 while they jumped to 43% market share and Apple's dropped (in spite of going to Verizon and Sprint). Great prediction Nostradumus.
Google should make their OS as fluid as possible, without the use of high resources.
iOS and WP7 are running very smooth on phones with 1GHz single core processor, while Android lags.
WP7 also has multiple vendors, and keep gaining interest for its smooth and integrated OS. Some coding need to be done, in order to keep interest on Android.
ICS is smoother, but still lags more compared to iOS and WP7. Get working Google.
this guy's a clown.
google is about to face harsh reality in 2012 as people's contracts expire. Disappointed uses will start dumping it in favour of IOS and WP, at which point its market share will fall to around 20%
Android is like China, they copy and tries to out produce against industrial nations. Quality is lost.
Giving things away freely sure would allow their marketshare to increase but this does not increase the amount Android users into Google customers.
Completely different than Apple because every iOS user is an Apple customer. While Android users are carrier customers and many have never paid a dime to Google's Market or services.

The user interface allows you to scroll from left to right and open an app, that's it. You can't view your calendar, music playlist,(agenda), weather, emails, or text messages on your home screen "
you can also scroll down from top and then you have all of those what you just said besides music playlist. you get them with only one swipe so it's very easy and fast.
i think the Ui is much cleaner when you don't have anything extra specially with so tiny screen. I used computers 15 years and never installed any widgets or extra stuff for my windows, it's also just app tray and i think many many use it only with that and it doesn't bother people. Same reason people like iOS Ui because it's clean and simple not messy like androids with all that stuff stuffed into homescreen.

For a developer, i don think they would be keen to cater the need for every unique platform running Android. This have not including number of new phone with bigger resolution coming up like Samsung Galaxy note. having force close and hanging issue
Nick, 07 Dec 2011Quite possible that Android is on top of iOS in pure numbers. But, after having had two Androi... moreInteresting! After installing IO5 on my much loved iPhone 4 the phone became laggy and would often freeze. I purchased a Motorola XT910 RAZR because i had to do something! I was blown away by the speed, battery life, and availability of apps, and the spectacular engineering of this Kevlar masterpiece! ... What an amazing phone! Easily the next level!
Now i understand why Apple is trying to sue anyone who challenges. I do love Apple gear but the world outside Apple looks increasingly amazing!
AlanJ, 07 Dec 2011I think Eric Schmidt has every reason to be optimistic. Just a year ago, the amount of quality... moreWhy would Apple compete on price? Silliest comment really. I cant see how a phone that is considered premium, and is doing extermely well, and also changed the game like it or not, would change the price to match some shitty plastic phones that sell for peanuts. The marketing strategy seems to be working ok for apple, hence all the stores.
My mum and dad know apple, my mum and dad dont know what android is, and they own SGS2s.

The user interface allows you to scroll from left to right and open an app, that's it. You can't view your calendar, music playlist,(agenda), weather, emails, or text messages on your home screen or customize them to whatever view that makes you feel comfortable. Its easy for an OS to be smooth when its only job is to scroll.
Nick, 07 Dec 2011Quite possible that Android is on top of iOS in pure numbers. But, after having had two Androi... moreCompletely agree. I have an iPhone 4S and a SGS2 in front of me as we speak. Obviously my 4S is worth twice what my SGS2 costs. And it really shows in the quality of experience. The SGS2, unsuprisngly, has a much larger audience due to its low cost, and obviously we are talking about the premium android device, its only down hill from there.
really though, you cant compare the quality of the devices. All the games I have on iOS just look so much better, behave so much better and are more stable. My SGS2 gets so hot when playing Asphalt 6 also. iPhone has no problems and the battery is better too by some margin.
To me its a no brainer, if i was younger though and didnt have the money, the android would be the one I would get (or buy for my kids).
I don't get it. Why are we at this again? IOS powered devices are more of a status symbol and Android devices are for the big crowd, who would like to enjoy the freedom of their software. I have an SGS2, my wife has an Iphone4. She is considering getting another phone becouse she is having issues with it (occasional lag, battery issues....and bsod!!). So don't even bother to start telling me that IOS is sooooo much more stable and faster than android, because it's not.
Eric Schmidt is not the CEO of Google, he is the Chairman. Larry Page, the co-founder of Google is now the CEO.
Anonymous, 07 Dec 2011you wish iOS was better. I don't wish, I know. As nice as Android is on my SGS2, it just doesn't compare with the intuitive and easy to use iOS. There's more app innovation from third parties too.
Still waiting for instagram to debut on Android :(
The Google android software is not productively effective as iOS. There are many hardware with top specs but are not in harmony with the android OS and as such result in far less benefit to people investing thier money in android phones. This will remain so for a very very long time.
