Anyone still getting iPhone or Android didn't try Windows Phone yet.
Lumia 800 is allready way nicer and the Lumia will make it a no brainer :)

Obviously, investors liked Symbian more than WP. I personally don't like Microsoft nor WP, but i still hope Nokia WP phones will be successful.

windows phone is a dead platform, give up already nokia u are carrying by brand name
Symbian is good, but not good enough to make profit in eyes of investor. To be honest, I love symbian, and still use both Nokia E6 and E51. But I'll be turn out into perhaps Lumia 900 if all application developers ran out from symbian :) In industries, we can utilize old machine until it reach its peak limit and cannot make profit anymore (despite starting into many trouble and high maintain cost), so changing into new software environment or new machine to create more profit is sometimes necessary.
What Elop has done is absolutely correct. Just because a platform is good (MeeGo) or it has been there for quite a long time (Symbian) doesnt mean that they should be allowed to pull down a company already in so much trouble. Where are the apps on Meego? Symbian is getting old, it cannot last forever. Nokia has done right by going with WP7 instead of becoming another Android manufacturer, which every startup mobile company uses. I am really happy that my dear Nokia didnt choose that crappy, resource hog Android, instead it went for smooth, simple and stable OS, WP7. Its a long way up, but Nokia will get through.
Symbian will rise again.

Actually i don't like the fact Nokia is moving to WP (im Symbian/MeeGo fan), but i think their WP phones will be successful and have potential to change the game. U may have different opinion tho.
I'm guessing Nokia Champagne is a codename for a seperate Lumia device?
I really hope it's one with a QWERTY Keyboard... I'd jump all over it if that were the case.

RVM, 08 Dec 2011The fact is, that Symbian is still the most used mobile OS in the world. http://gs.statcounter... moreSymbian is still one of the most used OS and that's true but that doesn't mean it's turning a profit. It's like selling millions and millions of Symbian smartphones and still losing money. Sales and number means nothing if it's not turning a profit.
The fact is Symbian is on a decline, it's failing to turn a profit, and people are not buying them. Now that's a major problem Nokia faces.
Ever heard of 2 Turkeys doesn't make an eagle.
Nokia is no Apple. It doesn't have the massive amount of fans like Apple does.
Motorola revived itself by using Android. They have been bought by Google.
Nokia got Microsoft but Windows Phone isn't doing too good. Nokia isn't doing too good either. You combine the 2 and you expect success?
Nokia and Symbian is dying.

I'm a Symbian user, it's still the best sold OS in the world, and think of all the people who get their phones second-hand or keep using them for 4-5 years until they fall apart. How long does an average Samsung last? Now with WP7 Nokia will have a phone in every market segment /sure there are cheap Androids but seriously, they are toys just like big ones are more like video games than real phones).
Symbian development is back!
Nope! Chuck Testa.
Next year is going to be really exciting for Nokia and WP7. I bet we will see loads of new WP7 devices.
I'm also really interested to see if Microsoft can keep up the pace they currently have in developing the OS. The leaps forward have been huge.
this sux! revive windows mobile 6.5!!!!

It's market share may be currently declining, but that doesn't mean it will die. Look for example at Motorola, they were also "dying" (using your logic) and now they are back in the game. Look at Apple, they almost bankrupt at 90ties...

Why is it declining while Android is gaining? why is Nokia losing millions and millions with Symbian? Even Nokia's CEO called Symbian a "burning platform" and you can't see it's dying?
