AnonD-16809, 08 Dec 2011so a multi billion dollar company thinks upgrading to a new version of the same os is so hard.... moreCustom ROM mods don't need to certificate their ROMs. Did you even read it?
Good explanation from SE,am waiting for this ICS and now using gingerbread in my xperia neo, i would like to know that will new software fixes some battery issues becose mine is using lot of battery when keeping overnight..........
Anonymous, 08 Dec 2011The most time consuming part is the certification portion. NOT the custom mod.Doesn't matter. All of it takes a while. :P
AnonD-56, 08 Dec 2011Back when all cellphones have their own simple UI's we were kinda satisfied, we had our own in... moreTrue, I wish I can get back to the Nokia 3310 days. Simple and easy.
Sony Ericsson is not like other manufactureres like LG and Samsung. You can see in LG and Samsung you will definitely have lots of software issue. This is all because of not testing properly.
Hey,
Any one who is into software development would understand what pain it takes to even fix a small bug in a software. ICS is a major release for the Android OS and its definitely gonna take some time to come to our devices.
Way to go Sony Ericsson, there are many people out there that don't realize these efforts at all, thanks for clarifying for them!!
Here's to a successful project, SE! Loking forward to it!
This would all be simpler and faster, if there was also one h/w stack to use... ohh, wait a minute.. that's an iphone..
"simply put, they need divers for those devices"
This make my day.
Anonymous, 09 Dec 2011Android = bugs, force closes and unstable. That's what I've learnt after owning 4 android phones :)thats wat u get when buying uber cheap android china copycat phones.
Thanks Sony Ericsson. I'm very happy with my xperia neo. Got stock GB 2.3.3 and already received the update to 2.3.4, now I'm excited to be receiving ICS soon! Also happy to report that there's not much bloatware on my unit to necessitate rooting--just a few Chinese apps I can't read(Asian release). SE also picked good apps to bundle so I really don't mind. If SE can release a vanilla version, I would be so much happier!
To you who said that cyanogen can release it in 2weeks. Where is it now?? Its almost one month after google released the code. Besides, cyanogen releases it as alpha and then beta beta beta beta. Android OEM cannot release a beta where certain hardware is not functioning (i.e. HDMI out, FM radio) and it need to pass certain tests and quality control. Did you read the whole article? Or just the title?
i had the same feeling when i was waiting for GB update for my X10,i was so excited i couldn't wait more, but now i'd give every thing so that i'd be able to downgrade to 2.1 Eclair with old Timescape UI & MediaScape, the phone was a dream back then but ever since GB its all dark menus & i didn't experienced a single lag within first year but after GB it's hang rate is like once/week,i can't tell how much my phone turned down on my when i needed it the most,i even reached a moment were i throw it away once!!& hit it!! i just hope that ICS wont do the same with 2011 line that GB did to X10,X10 was the only one getting the 2.3 from 2010 line Xperia, but now there are around 10 Xperia phones getting ICS,i hope the company do their best this time cuz i made my BFF buy a Neo & he will kill me if his phone goes buggy...:(, & i won't forget myself for that cuz not anyone can afford a new phone just becuz the old one is gone bad,cuz of some update FROM the company which was meant to MAKE the phone work more EFFICIENTLY...
Anonymous, 09 Dec 2011Android = bugs, force closes and unstable. That's what I've learnt after owning 4 android phones :)i agree, been using galaxy ace and currently using galaxy tab 7.0 plus...its so laggy and so many times of force close apps
