Security, improvements in UI, performance, and this list goes on and on.

        SONY ERICSSON ROCKS!
And they just showed that they'll continue doing that under the Sony flag too

EarlZ, 08 Dec 2011It would be easier and more feasable for sony to just drop andriod updates for devices lower t... more

what you're saying is true! But SE is not samsung, and that's the reason they truly care about their customers, even the ones that only afforded the xperia mini.

Unlike samsung who only promised to upgrade the SG2 to ICS and all the rest of their android users should go to hell.

I'm a very happy xperia play owner ;)

I still use android 2.2 on my Galaxy S....and its smooth as silk, perfect in every way and it never had ANY problems for me...i see no reason why to update to 2.3 let alone 4.0...its pointless..why fix something that already works?
What will 4.0 bring you huh? A fancy new interface? WHY would i need a new one when my old one works so well?
More performance? What for? Are you gonna use it as a desktop computer so u need more performance?Seriously..i don't get people some times...

Maybe someone does not like WP7, but one thing is clear, Android update mechanism is ORRIBLE! WP7 updates are pushed at the SAME TIME on ALL MODELS, no matter what phone or cpu you have... THis is how things should work. Hardware companies should keep doing hardware and OS people doing code.

Do you imagine waiting for DELL everytime a new versione of Windows for your laptop is OUT?? Bah. Shame google.

Has been Very happy using the Arc for the past 8mths and can't wait to get the next Arc HD or Nozomi. Indeed Sony Ericsson is doing a great job on updating their phones. In fact Arc is my first SE phone and i love it. Will be happy to get the last Ericsson phone. and it will be history. GO GO GO S/E!!!

They do not want to pay for somebody to write the code for the drivers.May be if it was some big bro spy-ware they will released it sooner.Sony is already a year behind the cell phone market.Their next step is to buy a cooperation with HTC.
                        SONY-HTC brand ha ha ha.

phil, 08 Dec 2011so just a buy a phone with ICS instead of waiting for the update? That is making the assumption people have €500+ to throw away? The majority of users waiting for ICS will have a contract with their device, probably taken out this year, ending in 2013. I for instance have a Galaxy S2 - I am not going to then buy a Nexus just to get ICS when I can get it on my device for no extra cost.

Why are people so hysterical about the ICS update? Does it really make a difference getting it in january or march? Of course adapting their firmware to ICS is not as straightforward as taking the code and install the vanilla rom. They have millions of customers in the world and they must guarantee that the update will be bug free and will not cause problems with any network.
If you really can't wait, just wait for cyanogen or another cooked rom...

Why all people are complaining? You have to be proud SE is honest about there update proces, they are the first brand which explains the proces, which is quite nice! In fact, SE is updating many deviced to ICS to keep all the customers happy. SE's own software always looks much better and works faster. So be patient and get some respect.

Adam, 08 Dec 2011At least SE is not as slow as LG. Still waiting for 2.3 to show up for LG Optimus black....Actually, it took SE longer to update their Xperia X10 to 2.3 than it took LG to update it's LGP500 to 2.3. This while the X10 is a more high end model and was on the market quite a bit earlier than the LGP500. So far, SE hasn't shown to be any faster at all to be honest.

                                      Hi SE

Im SE Xperia X10 user,I hope SE can prepare the update for SE X10 phone also because SE X10 was the SE first ever android phone. If SE can give ICS update for X10 its can make the phone more compatible and faster
because with gingerbread 2.3.3 also i felt the phone is lacking.Hope SE can do something on this...
