Finally, Someone is like me.. who likes bezels... I play a lot of game on my Note 9 and and bottom nd top bezel give me grip to hold the fon... i cannot imagine playing anything on Oppo Find X..
if bezels gives me extra battery than I dont mind it..
Galaxy Note 10, 20 Jan 2019I have Mate 20 Pro and Note 9 and I never face accidental touched on the edges or anywhere, yo... moreYeah, I don't have any accidental edge touch issue either, maybe because I also use an armoured case.
I think that no bezels would affect build strength/ durability & maybe even practicalities.
OEM's should concentrate on making the devices drop proof from 6' & improve fixability to replace a battery or component (future proof) & make any planned obsolescence illegal.
I think the Mix 2S has it right, no issues holding it at all (but I do use a bumper case).
If they could keep the same bezel thickness for top and sides, and have the same at the bottom as the top, I would be super happy.
Bezel-less design is not the problem... the problem is that smartphones are getting bigger and bigger each year, now it is imposible to find a new mobile below 150 mm height, 75 mm wide, making it harder to control and to hold.
For example: I love the size of my old LG G2, which could be redesigned with bezel-less screen creating a holdable and not finger-stretching device.
I love bezels. They allow me a more secure grip on my slippery glass, over long, unbalanced, designed to be dropped and thus broken, extremely expensive smart phone. Every time we damage or destroy one of these jewels we have to pay our hard earned cash to repair or replace them, to the very companies who have designed them to be broken. Bring back the bezel! Bring back 3:2 screen ratio. While I`m at it, bring back the replaceable battery.
Bezel-less is the way, because protective cover for phone. The protective cover creates a bezel around the phone. Why the phone should still have its own bezel?
Finally someone that understands why I have buyed my iPhone 8 Plus
It's the same as with notifications panel, all wrong is just software. And if you worry about cracking screen do not, as cases are for that case.
LG Superfan, 21 Jan 2019Computer is a.close.but different product its like complaining that cars have four wheels but ... moreTime to bring the waterdrop notch on smartwatch then since it is a fashion accessories.
LG Superfan, 21 Jan 2019Not a bling bling item to me either but wont it be boring if all phones looked the same from o... moreIs "boring" such a bad thing here? I would say that variety function-wise would be much more interesting to suit the variety of users and usage patterns out there.
Even just looking at slabs, some would prefer a large device for two handed operation only, some a small for comfortable one handed usage only, some an intermediate size, that by stretching can be used by one hand. And some prefer a thin and light device easy to slip into a dinner jacket or bag, others one with big battery, and others with a mechanically enforced more sturdy device. And some a clamshell or QWERTY-slider... Add to that variety in cameras, chipsets and other specs to make the devices more or less budget friendly... All depending on the users preferences. There is room for a LOT of variety - looking boring or not.
This site has it's share of blame for phones becoming impractical. Praising bigger screens, bigger screen to body ratio and "elegant" thin phones (what's elegant about camera bump?!).
Personally I like a bit thicker phones, without camera bump, not taller than 140mm and with some grip around the screen i.e. bezels. Hence I got my self a Xperia XZ1 Compact.
Most people aren't "power users" and their phones have much more pocket time than screen time. Mine included.
A totally wrong opinion. Unintended touching issues can be easily fix both by hardware.software solutions. Bezelless is the only feature
This review is a joke, not everyone has such fat palms just because you cant use a phone properly doesn't mean everyone else cant or just a buy a case and problem solved
I seriously don't understand why would anyone support the idea of bezel-less phone. Even I'm struggling to find a good use for it...
shrink the bezzers for compact phone and increase the screen in the reasonably big phone .but doing both to the extreme is just wrong
NOTCH is FINE!!
Especially with stereo speakers adn dual front cameras, I LOVE Notch!
Bring IT on!!
Sorry but i completely disagree with your opinion, although i understand your perspective,
Looks like you have relatively small hands and phones with bezels are more appropriate to you.
But you missed one point,
You said you more often to watch things on phones more than tvs, and you 've got a problem holding your phone.
But on the contrary; YOU ARE WATCHING ON A MORE ENJOYABLE LARGER SCREEN.
For me, as some one with relatively large hands, I completely support the ongoing bezelless trend. And It will affect my next purchase for sure.
But I respect your opinion.
Compare to the 2018 smartphones and 2016 smartphones side by side, the 2018 phone series are like you are holding a piece of glass with less sensors and 2016 phone series is like you are holding a real phone.
2016: iPhone 7
Samsung Galaxy S7
Google Pixel
LG G5
Huawei Mate 9
All of their screen to body ratio are 16:9 with bezel.
2018: iPhone XS Max
Samsung Galaxy Note 9
Google Pixel 3 XL
Huawei Mate 20 pro
All of their phone screen to body ratio are 18:9 and 19:9 display with bezeless and notch.
Any smartphone with decent power and tiny bezels is good for me. I don't hate bezels.
