SquadBoi, 22 Jan 2019Lol but you do realise this move will kill the employment? Unemployment is a big problem in IndiaThis article say that it may stop manufacturing. But it will also not that easy for samsung to close it down. There are stakes at both the side. It may kill some jobs. LOL! But do u think how many jobs will be created if they start to use local parts in their goods. It will be on bright side for India in future... the road to future is not that easy. U may have to lose something to get something bigger. This gov is doing that what Trump is doing for America. India first.

All India needed was a strong will power and a Solid government. U will see the change my friend.
Dilmeet, 22 Jan 2019Is it that simple for any company to suddenly adhere to regulation change at the last minute? ... moreCan u tell me how this matter is connected to Elections?? Yes this is sudden policy change..But u can't understand all the significance of a complex decision. For ex- BS-IV compliant vehicles were made compulsory from April 1, 2017 while the government had planned to skip the fifth stage and jump to Bharat Stage VI from 2020..did this move hit all the big car companiesthat hard... be ground to earth and see what is gov. doing for helping India to grow not for Samsung or any other MNC... This is union gov. of India not the coporate gov. of India..
Vegetaholic, 23 Jan 2019Lol, Samsung number 1 manufacturers in a world by sales and shipped phones. Do you think they ... morewell, it matters in India, because of these lowered taxes Samsung is low on taxed amount thus runs a large gap in prices as compared to Apple.
That's pretty much why its a win-win for both consumer and Samsung
They can cancel whole production. Like someone wants an superexpensive phone where xiaomi offers much more powerful phone with equal or better quality for a much lower price.
Same goes to Hauwei.
CptPower, 22 Jan 2019The end of Samsung is near! Watchout Samsung, any wrong decisions then you'll be finishedLol, Samsung number 1 manufacturers in a world by sales and shipped phones. Do you think they care, where they going to manufacture their stuff? There is plenty countries waiting with open arms in east to imvite Samsubg plants to their country. I am sure India gocernment will turnover it decision, many indian jobs are at stake here, governemnt will definitely comply with Samsung.

stop hating Samsung,
It is bad move in any way!
Construction need time be it a small office or as some mentioned here the biggest factory that samsung has ever build!
Also in any way the people are gana pay for this:
1- If samsung moves out of India than there would be no more employment in samy factory and their product would become more expensive than before (hence the 10-11% tax)
2- If samy stay and wait for the factory construction to be completed than there would be price uprising for those devices that screen have to be imported or maybe in general every samy device
3-If samy stay but won't make any more top notch models, which leads to uprising the top models price which again maybe effect the mid and low range device price
You know economies different part are connected to each other.
They should have seen every aspect of it before making any move.
Also in any way samsung tries to keep it's profit so the shareholders could be happy!

[deleted post]Indian workforce was highly talented until recently......in the last few decades of corruption and affirmative action (aka reservations), entitlement for people calling themselves backward but rich...governments in the last 6 decades ensured that poor people never come out of the clutches of the political dynasties and never allowed them to improve skills. They just followed the same British system of making clerks out of engineers everywhere and replicated that model across length and breadth

Joe Dickson, 22 Jan 2019Taxing yourself to prosperity never works. But the Indian government has decided to speed things up and now demands production of said components start by February of 2019 - next month - or it will impose a 10% duty tax (that could end up being 11%) on any imported components.
Neither the above
gohelvishalp, 22 Jan 2019I'm indian and I am sorry for giving my country to an 68 year old stupid person Everyone loves preference and convenience for leadership. Unless all understand and realise that we need to think equal as a nation, there is no fault finding. Division over n number of reasons (old and new) is an old propaganda used well as people are just happy to live with it. How can a human being be differentiated over caste, religion, color, country, and all that baseless logic?
