so the camera hole is still there, only disguised as an app? so whenever you open the app, youre smudging the camera. hahaha
Man i dont know i like the innovation like Meizu Zero but this is a bit overshotted.
Don't labelled it as development ! This can be done without OPPO tech team
AnonD-628531, 28 Jan 2019...and smudge the camera every time?? Congrats! We'll gain new feature it's called OCD.
end of the day its a dead pixel if u remove that app icon
Just because you don't intend to use a particular patent for actual product development doesn't mean that patent is useless. If you are running a tech company, one of the many things that you need to know is to strategically place your patents, including many seemingly useless patents at the time.
because that surely fixed the problem of having a giant gaping hole on fullscreen apps like oh, I dunno, GAMES PLAYED BY MILLIONS OF PEOPLE
why these companies are so out of touch with these kind of things is beyond me lol. good luck dumba**
So hole is still there and they are just painting the surrounding of the hole with icons ???? .. when icon is taken away it is same as punch hole ???? ... what's so fancy in this .. lol .. cheap rated useless patents !!
What's the point of this? The hole is still physically there right? That means it will still be seen if it is not on the home screen
Good luck reaching for the camera icon unless you are Mr. Fantastic.
I'd say it's better than seeing the fugly hole. This icon will do a good job of hiding the hole.
As for smudges, they are extremely easy to wipe off. I guess people are not used to cleaning their phones, which is their own fault.
Personally, i will only approve of these holes when they find a way to show the display on top of it. We're probably a few years behind that tech though...
You can be pretty sure OPPO and Vivo will continue their role as two disrupters in an otherwise rather stale Apple-Samsung smartphone world.
Yonef, 28 Jan 2019so you always get smudges on front camera when you start app! Extremely stupid ideaFirst thought was the same. Always blurry selfies due to fingerprints . Great idea. Wow.
This patent is for self-protection only. I am pretty sure Oppo will have better and different solutions in their new products.
Vivo will have a superior solution when their commercialized version of Vivo Apex 2019 is ready to ship. Vivo's solution for front camera will be different from any of existing solutions so far. Vivo's solution will embrace the true full screen, so tear-drop notch, or any variants of punch-hole (including this OPPO's patent) will be out. Vivo's solution will also be consistent with their flowy "Water-Drop" design, so slider (mechanical or motorized) and pop-up solutions will not be accepted, either. Vivo has not showed all their hands at the gathering of Jan-24-2019. You can Expect exciting things from Vivo in years to come.
GaganAhuja, 28 Jan 2019Oh god! I got the same idea today morning. I forget to patemt the idea. Oppo you steal my idea... moreWell, since it takes more than a day to submit a patent, you're a couple of days (months?) late. (I got the joke, just sometimes it looks like a lot forget there is some time between having the idea, putting it in shape, and submitting it, I don't even talk about the validation of the patent that can go for years).
ok, this camera hole is going way off the line. Tight your seatbelts everyone for 2019 ffs...
GaganAhuja, 28 Jan 2019Oh god! I got the same idea today morning. I forget to patemt the idea. Oppo you steal my idea... moreThese Chinese as always stealing ideas. Now you know how they are operating. Ban them everywhere
