So why doesn't Samsung release one with unmodified Ice cream sandwich, without any User Interface or simplify the user interface for Galaxy S and similar phones.
This is unfair. Samsung cannot pull the plug for Galaxy S just because Touchwiz cannot work.
Android is so required for Samsung to capture the pole position in the smartphone market, and if they are killing support for old phones because of their User Interface, its becoming more like Apple. This is not what Android fans expect.
Without the Android, Samsung will be left behind in the smartphone, Id rather happily go for a Sony or Moto or LG droid.
I have Galaxy 7" tablet and I really like it. I honestly don't even want to get ICS, I think Gingerbread is just perfect.
Time to upgrade new phone again? But I already have 4 android phones.
AnonD-3425, 23 Dec 2011Agreed!
I'm on CM7 (2.3.7) and it runs butterly smooth as smooth that I can't leave my phon... moreWow, you seem so proud you managed to get your phone to work more like an iPhone.
Me, I just bought the original and best in the first place, no messing around with ROM's it works like that out of the box.
tanvir, 23 Dec 2011itz true Samsung has supported the i9000 by android 2.2 n 2.3 major updates. But showing such ... moreThey are still selling them.
https://shop.vodafone.com.au/mobile-details/buy-samsung-galaxy-s-8gb-black?plantab=24month
So I guess you'd have to buy a new phone, just like Samsung wants you to, so they can make money.
Buying one iPhone you know will be updated to the latest OS, costs less than buying several Android imitations over two or three years.
ICS is no big deal, it still lags.
Anonymous, 23 Dec 2011They just want you to get a new phone, i am just inches away from getting a White Galaxy W thi... moreGet a Moto Razr.... new one...
I was sure sammy will feed us some nonsense crap about why GS wont get the update, but this is ridiculous. They really think their customers are sheep minded ... :D
Bullshit, SE Xperia ray with inferior GPU and same CPU will get the update, but GalaxyS wont ?!?! The reason is clear - money, money, money! Sammy needs to sell the new phones, doesn't need to support the old ones - its simply not profitable and they are the big corporation sucking out peoples money. Sucking out because people are suckers and they are supporting the wealthy life of the rich.
What bad joke! i9000 runs custom 4.0.3 like a boss!
Hiya!, 23 Dec 2011Why are you crying here?
Samsung galaxy S got 2 major updates 2.2 and 2.3 and a lot of minor ... moreAgreed!
I'm on CM7 (2.3.7) and it runs butterly smooth as smooth that I can't leave my phone from my hands even for a second. Its fun to use the so snappier UI. Have tested ICS beta on my sgs well. However, looking forward to the stable CM9.
orexha, 23 Dec 2011guys i have galaxy s plus i 9001. 1.4ghz processor. does it make any difference. what do you think. 1.4 GHz processor doesn't make a difference. The RAM is what matters and with 512 MB useless touchwiz overlay can't fit plus ICS. Pure ICS can fit no problem and work buttery smooth too, check XDA if they have a working build
Why are you crying here?
Samsung galaxy S got 2 major updates 2.2 and 2.3 and a lot of minor updates from samsung till 2.3.6 JVZ
They wont update it as they want to sell other products.. Yes, they're doing buisness after all, not charity!
Go to xda and install ICS or ICS launcher..
by the way, there's nothing special in ICS for now, 2.3.6 custom roms are a lot better.
Rahul, 23 Dec 2011Buddy can u give me detaild procedure to update galaxy s to ICS.....i tried it but in recovery... moreGo to xda developers forum and look for Samsung i9000 Galaxy S on your computer. There should be a picture of it and check android development section. There should be a sticky showing how to install custom ROM's the procedure is always the same. Alternatively go to youtube there are tons of videos on how to install custom ROM's with step by step instructions with added help of visually seeing it being done
guys i have galaxy s plus i 9001. 1.4ghz processor. does it make any difference. what do you think.
Thats is so not true.. my galaxy s with teamhacksung's ICS port (build10) runs very smoothly and no FC or freeze like the original samsung ROMs did... I am sure ICS is so much better than Gingerbread.. also works very good on old hardwares as well
so sad i hear this news my galaxy tab 7.0 won't get ics
non sense! after i tasted what HTC did with hero i changed to samsung and brought galaxy tab 7.0, and boy these guys at samsung are slower than turtles when releasing updated to their devices! now the major advantage with samsung other than their excellent hardware has shaken up,, their software is already lagging behind other manufacturers in terms of stability and functionality, and with no updates this only makes things worse! if SE released devices with better specs i would get one, otherwise i may give HTC another try as their last device (vivid) did pretty good with battery test (which was htc's major problem imo!),,
itz true Samsung has supported the i9000 by android 2.2 n 2.3 major updates. But showing such a lame excuse for ics is not acceptable. remember samsung itz i9000 which made you a successful mobile company. Custom roms have already shown i9000 is capable of ICS without any worry. SHAME YOU SAMSUNG :(
