[deleted post]Your point is? SGS runs ICS without lagg because IT HAS A BETTER HARDWARE. Also, that version of ICS is STOCK. If X10 can't run a stock version without lagg that means it cannot run the one with TimeScape UI without lagg :) Name me one phone with 362 MB of RAM that's getting ICS :)
And here we go again...W8 is an X8 with different colours. The device has 186 MB of RAM, you want it to get updated to ICS? LOL. And another Samsung fan boy which does not even own a smartphone down...
No points for Samsung, as I said, they're updating THREE out of TWELVE devices they produced this year. Sony Ericsson is updating ALL the XPERIA 2011 Lineup :) They're also kind enough to update Live With Walkman even though it's not an Xperia :) Now have fun with your device that won't be running ICS anytime soon. Most of the people can agree that SE is better than Samsung now. IDC about your biased opinion.
[deleted post]Very true. Even at that time, it was pretty obvious that the SGS was light years ahead of the competition.
[deleted post]i-9003? Isn't that the Galaxy SL (the one with S-LCD)? I don't think there's an ICS rom for that. The SL got the official GB update only last month (Nov.9 to be precise). Even custom GB roms for the SL are pretty sparse compared to SGS.

- NO ICS UPDATE FOR HTC DESIRE SERIES AND SE X10, which released that days w... moreThe newer Xperia phones launched this year (Arc, Neo, Ray, the Mini series, Play, Active and the Live with Walkman) would be tasting ICS next year, if Sony pulls its stuff together. Not 100% sure about the Play & Active... Do correct me if I'm wrong.
The notable exception is the W8 which was launched this year- but it's hardly a new phone- it's just an X8 with new paintjob and has the same wheezy hardware the X8 had.
Sony messed up the first wave of Xperia droids pretty bad. They had sub-par hardware. Comparing SGS, Desire and the X10 and no prizes for guessing which has the least amount of ram.. Desire has 576mb, SGS 512mb & X10 with a lousy 384mb. That coupled with the measly on-board storage means that the X10's never gonna see ICS. Same with Desire which had too little internal memory- HTC released 2.3 update without sense as it didn't have sufficient storage.
But what about SGS with 512mb ram and with the 16 gb storage?!! It has some 2gb space for installing apps! It's kind of lame from Samsung in saying that the internal memory of SGS is insufficient!
Finally, the X8 isn't getting the ICS treatment not because it's a flagship. Actually, Sony's promising to update the entire 2011 lineup to ICS and that includes blue collar phones like Live with Walkman. The X8's not getting the update cause it doesn't have much internal mem to speak of (about 145mb) and one of the least ram I've seen on a droid- 168mb. It's laggy enough on GB when there's a lot of eye candy in the UI- I don't think it's ever gonna run ICS. The same goes for the old Mini series.

Pure Gas And Fanboy !!!!
Samsung Nexus S got update (ur 2nd point 200% wrong).
Why u want to update all phones at once ? SGS dont even support update atleast SE supports in 2012.
SGS getting value pack (haha last time i checked 3GS got full iOS 5 update and runs even apps like infinity blade-2 or garageband what about that ?)
HTCsense = same crap as Touchwiz.
Lets compare Samsung vs iPhone vs SE.
Samsung gives RAM,displays and Chips to SE+Apple so all 3 company phones run on samsung components.
(Blame samsung if SE isnt updated)(Blame Samsung or SE again if iPhone hardware or camera is crap).
And Most SE Models getting ICS update and coming to X8 isnt flasgship phone comapre to X10 since SGS is a flagship product.
I guess maybe one of the reasons why Samsung chose not to release ICS for SGS, is because it would be unfair for the Nexus S users. Whom have to deal with an inferior hardware in the first place compared to SGS, and then to watch SGS get ICS.
really disappointing to see samsung treat its customers like this.. me and my friends have decided to move on to other manufacturers.. BIG LET DOWN!!!

I a Samsung fan. I even dreamm about working for Samsung one day. But this story really makes me question the intelligence of foresight of Samsung Mobile. 10 million users were happy with your phone until you tried to stop updating your device. It will be a big mistake by you Samsung. You will be held accountable for your actions Samsung..
I am so disappointed in you
RamyRamz69, 29 Dec 2011I really, really don't have an idea of what you're talking about... I have three SE phones(... moreI've never owned one for daily use nor do i know anyone that owned one, so you may very well be right, but when the either the display or chipset goes out on a demo phone then, well, you reconsider your options. My phones are on 24/7 so maybe they are playing up a bit because of the extended use but compared to the other phones i have on display the sony's had the shortest lifespan.
Well some time ago I was telling this but people angers hehehehe Samsung don't stay beind their products, they like to make money, not happy people.
I have an Samsung Galaxy S Continuum and this thing ROCK...BUT there is not aupdates for now, we are stuck on 2.1 (there is some 2.2 leaked on XDA but have many issues) because Samsung got the 2.3 update but they simple DON'T release it...Why? can be a lots of why's BUT the true is Samsung is killing this baby in order to sell newer phones and stop supporting old ones.
Gosh, This even can run ICS but Samsung don't think the same, also is doing this for Galaxy S2, in order to sell Galaxy S3.
Samsung is greedy....and for my bad luck CyanMod don't support this model....
Value pack my foot.. That's a bunch of **** from Samsung. If I wanted a quicker web experience, I'd install Opera Mini or something. If I'd wanted new widgets, I could grab some from the hundreds of great widgets in the Market- not wait on Samsung to do the same. Finally- better multi-tasking? I'd rather get a third party launcher or more likely, get a custom rom onboard.
I don't own a Galaxy S, but I do own a Xperia X8 (W8 actually). Sony refused to update to even 2.2 Froyo. I was a bit sad as I was an Android noob at the time I was purchasing the W8. The stock 2.1 Eclair rom sucked- poor battery life, inability to install on sd card and a whole lot of other issues.
After a week, I rooted my phone and started experimenting with the custom roms. They're wonderful- most of them would beat Sony's UI anyday hands down. Now even if Sony were to release an update, it's highly unlikely that I'll ever go back to stock.
The Galaxy S owners are far more luckier than the owners of the old Xperia wave. Sammy has updated it from 2.1 to 2.2 and now, it's running 2.3 GB. That's some pretty rich support compared to SE. Also, there are a LOT more custom roms floating around in XDA for the GS than the X8 ever had. There's even an ICS ROM for the GS, IIRC.
So why wait for the official upgrades? Fear of voiding the warranty? That's a joke. After sales support is generally poor in my place for all major brands- the salesmen rarely know anything technical- let alone such stuff on Android. I guess it's easy to fool them- just flash in the stock rom if your phone ever needs to be serviced, right?
Really, it's the golden age of consumers. We dictate what we want- not companies. If they don't- well, look at the sorry state of the big shots like Sony, Nokia, Motorola, Blackberry and HP- they are all facing the heat.
Didn't mean to diss anybody by this post- just putting down my thoughts. Cheers and Happy NY in advance!
Shame Shame Shame!
It is makenting but... they will lose customers...
Got my SGS updated to ics it worked great! Thnx to the guys at XDA, Cynogenmod and especially to my brother who did the work. And NO thanks to Samsung u bit ches!
Is this applicable for galaxy sl GT-I9003???if yes, then samsung really disappointed us.....not to buy galaxy s or its lower version mobile....detached it from the list of smartphone .......really shame...SE is better.....let samsung must fall down in market...

It's one of the best/ stable launchers around especially the Touchwiz 4 .
Where have you seen that ICS is working flawlessly? in a 2 minutes demo video?
I have tried it my self for a week and it's useless for daily use. many things are not working yet and it's so LAGGY compared to Gingerbread roms.
I can bet that you've never tried a custom Rom and maybe still stuck at Eclair 2.1
if you try a custom 2.3.6 Gingerbread Rom+lagfix and voodoo sound, you wont come back cry here.
The Time For Nexus To Rise Is Now!!
Seems like Galaxy S2 will not be receiving Jelly Bean update.
