This is just unacceptable... I was planning to buy a glaxy S3 (or equivalent) next year. Now, with all this brilliant! customer care... no matter what, I aint getting a Samsung again.

In fact, Nokia failed to meet its sales target in 2011, whereas Samsung exceeded it.
Yes, there is always rooms for Sammy to be learnt from others, even rivals.
However, considering Nokia&Samsung market performance in 2011, Nokia has a lot to learn from Samsung. That's just more logical to me.
By the way, Im waiting for the Belle update for my E72.

its a simple marketing solution
if the SGS will get ICS a lot of ppl wont think of buying a new phone (which i wonder who will return after this)
anyway the TouchWiz on the SGS is bad anyway and the Custom roms are much better and faster..
Samsung needs to learn a thing or two from Nokia. They need to provide updates and keep their current customers happy but Samsung fails. This is the reason why Nokia is number 1. They keep their customers happy with world- class service and the support you'll expect from a big and well respected company. Samsung had lost the respect of many of its fans with their stupid decisions. Samsung will never be like Nokia and they will continue losing the trust and respect of customers around the world.
You guys should have bought a Nokia smartphone instead and updates will not be a problem. Nokia will flood the market with Android killers after Android killers and I feel sorry for Samsung. Their marketshare will shrink like an ice cube in a cup of hot coffee and Nokia will triumph over the collective Android OEMs.
SGS1 owners should go to XDA and ask the devs to port Symbian Belle into the I9000 and stop worrying about the rediculous update policies of rotten companies like Samsung.
RamyRamz69, 29 Dec 2011XDA Developers also released an ICS version of the G1 :)
Your point is invalid, SE cannot u... moreAh, forgot to mention this.
In fact xda developers managed to make a ICS rom for Nexus one as well.
Enjoy your ass-kicking, man.
Those who want se for the next phone: check the internal memory of SE phones.
RamyRamz69, 29 Dec 2011XDA Developers also released an ICS version of the G1 :)
Your point is invalid, SE cannot u... more*Double face palm*
->XDA developers made ICS ROMs for both GS1 and X10
->Both of them are capable of receiving ICS update
->Sammy ,at least, considers to update their GS1 or giving away a value pack(rumor).
->SE is being lazy and the X10 users get nothing.
Conclusion : Sammy is better than SE in this case.
Use your logic rather than being a fanboy.
It's a perfectly valid point.
Plus, Not all SE 2011 models are getting ICS update ie)X8
Anonymous, 29 Dec 2011Then how can XDA developers released ROM ICS for X10?
Its spec is enough for ICS. Lack of RAM... moreXDA Developers also released an ICS version of the G1 :)
Your point is invalid, SE cannot update the X10 to ICS because the hardware is old, there isn't enough RAM. The same thing with the Nexus One.
And even if SE doesn't update their X10 which is a 2009 phone, they will still update ALL their 2011 lineup. Not just 2-3 out of 10+ phones :)
RamyRamz69, 28 Dec 2011X10 has 384 MB of RAM yo.Then how can XDA developers released ROM ICS for X10?
Its spec is enough for ICS. Lack of RAM is just pathetic excuse.
Face it, SE is being a lazy ass, yet Sammy at least tries to pull out ICS here(remember this value pack thing is just another rumor) for their costumers. That's a difference between Sammy and SE.
This reminds me of the Ominia 2.
Anonymous, 28 Dec 2011will never buy any samsung phn again...better to own sony ericsson...buying S1 was a mistake..... moreI think Samsung came to this conclusion after some sturdy tests. They wouldn't just give up on an important update so fast. No manufacturer would just put down a product so fast. They must have tested the ICS and it was not satisfactory. I don't think every phone is made for ICS, even if the manufacturer launches the update for it. If you update your phone and it lags or the battery only lasts a day you'llbe more pissec off at Samsung. Remember, Samsung is a huge company. Launching an ICS update for the Galaxy S wouldn't cost them that much.
Haha, those wanting to go to Sony, enjoy it, they are terrible with updates.x10 didn't get updates for months and wasn't even meant to get multi touch and now has it with limited capability.the phone was a waste of time.I have always had Sony, they are disappoint ing Samsung galaxy s2 was the best choice I ever made. The fact that Samsung has huge on board memory makes it a fantastic choice. Don't be ignorant, there are good reasons got a company not to upgrade.use custom ROM if you want ics
Anonymous, 28 Dec 2011*Face palm* Haters gonna hate. SE = No ICS update for X10(they get GB latter than SG1) HT... moreX10 has 384 MB of RAM yo.
Stripped down.Who cares!!.Go to XDA and get a custom ICS ROM thats 10 times better than any stock ROM or just go and buy an SGS2 like I did and own a real beast.Custom ROM 2.3.6,KK5 firmware,KP1 modem....mindblowing.Open your minds and get of stock.
P.S.
Im not a samsung fanboy either its just that times have changed.the SGS was good in its day but powerful updates require more RAM.(I still have one too on custom ROM)
As a SGS owner I get it when others are saying that my phone is old and we should just let it go, but didn't manufactuers swore to Google that they would support their devices for 18 months and SGS is just barely in that time frame.
Besides, other manufactuers are putting ICS on much worse phones than SGS (SE Xperia Ray).
I personally don't care if I get official ICS because when time comes and some apps would need ICS or custom ICS ROMs would become stable for everyday use I would flash it, but majority of SGS owners out there (there are quite a lot of them) don't know how to update other than thru official Kies.
*Face palm*
Haters gonna hate.
SE = No ICS update for X10(they get GB latter than SG1)
HTC = NO ICS update for most of desire line up including some models that have released this year.
Samsung = Update its SG1 to GB faster than any other android manufacturers and still haters say Sammy is lack of customer service.

And well if Samsung claims that the Super Amoled + is the brightest one in the market then uh...lies
Bye Bye Samsung !
A Happy customer talks about his good buy to 3 or 5 people in general, A Sad one talks to 10 to 15 about it !
So me, my 2 brothers and my girlfriend (all geek) are really really really disapointed ! so i count about 60 consumer away from your brand Sammy !
