Excellent measurement taken by the Argentinian government. If you don't invest in our country, then GTFO. It's that simple. Blackberries are a trend nowadays, same with the iPhone. Let's hope that not only people now buy Androids, but that they also care for everything local-made or assembled.
BTW, those who were able to buy iPhones recently: either you bought remaining stocks or the people who're selling you those phones are gray importing them.

I think this is a very smart move by the Argentinien Government and hope that these companies such as Apple and RIM invest their money in helping the growth of the Argentinien economy.

Honestly, I think its a wise thing to do.This way those foreign companys will have to invest in the country and it will lead to jobs.this is a very very good move.Foreign companys with big profits must oblige to their social responsibilies.

                        This is NOT TRUE!!

Today is ‘Dia de los Santos Inocentes‘ across Spanish-speaking countries, the local equivalent of April’s Fools. In other words, the information our friends and competitors at Apple Insider took seriously is likely to be nothing but a joke.

I live in Argentina and i'm working in Claro, one of our providers. RIM already has a factory here, some Blackberrys are already being sold (like 8520). But probably we won't see Apple products for a while.

RIM factory is indeed working since October in Argentina, manufacturing Blackberry phones ever since. Besides that, Iphones are being selled and offered by every cell phone provider or seller in the country with no kind of restrictions.

rebel, 28 Dec 2011exactly then usa and canada must block all goods made in argentinaWe have minerals, food aplenty and a lot of green areas to make more food, vegetables and animals. And a lot of scientists (i'm one) and intelligent people. We have a real democracy, and a president that fights for it's people and not for the corporations both nacional and international.
If USA blocks us, perfect. We have very good relationships with Europe and China. Don't ask us for food or water. We have everything we need to survive. We are not like cuba. Will it be hard? True, but we will prevail.
