Hello, I'm Argentinian, I live in Argentina, the truth the government's strategy seems to me 4th, and is deployed from a year ago. iPhone 4 nuetra never get into the country, just enter a course which soon ran out, a shame that our president does and that this results in an increase of 8% at work in our country, and only in the cone south, where all the factories, or Land of Fire, with this the only thing our President does is that it delays technology, which from now our country has never been very present in it, but unfortunately as a simple user can do nothing, only hope that our president comes to mind to get these obstacles, because I think it would make sense that they are all available equipment and economic nationalists, so each one could choose a team choose to pay more brought from abroad and cheaper one made here, then free choice thus opened, because as I said before these obstacles only increase the work in the Southern Cone 8%!

Sorry for being rude but more to do with politicians and bureaucrats making money. Bit off topic but true. Just look who is behind the partners.

Listen guys. I am Argentinian, i live in the country, and that ban is true. However you can get those brands anywhere, but as part of exsisting stock.
i worked in a cell phone video games company, and that ban has affected us for a short period of time.
We have to get a special permission from our local customs offices to be able to import phones with develpoment porposses.
Is true that this is increasing the local manufacturing, what that does not affect the prices. They are still being really expensive.
On the other hand, we all know that the companies based in our country have some diabolic pact with the gouberment.

Well... it's one way to do things. It encourages major tech companies to invest in Argentina and create Argentinian jobs, if they want to retain market share, which seems to be what their government is aiming for. It does have the risk of developing a smartphone black market though, as noted.

Hopefully RIM and Apple will see the investment opportunity (if there is one; I have no idea) and set up shop. If not... well, we'll see.

Just as long as they stay away from the Falklands; our government's slash-and-burn cuts mean we probably couldn't take them back if there's a 30th anniversary sequel ;)

Is not a "ban" for Apple and RIM, it's a block for ANY electronic imported devices.
RIM is in fact builing a factory in Argentina to produce the Blackberry which will start production in 2012.
