So I guess what they are saying is that they want the people that must have those phones will need to pay more money to the black market dealers...thusly increasing demand which means greater cash flow?

i guess you must to reconsider the build, they dont build nothing talking about the factorys of samsung,bb, etc, the only thing that they do is to put a sticker with "made in argentina" and that all that they do...

I am sure there are other ways to improve a failing economy other than taking such desperate measures. This kinda Sucks honestly though I hate both the brands from the core of my heart

Serves Apple better,at least they will for the time being forget about Courts and Patents. For RIM,that's like opening up a wound and salting it. Hope you'll survive!

Actually this is (very) old news. They started the ban around June, I believe. RIM's assembling factory is finished and the 8520 and 9300 are already being sold (the only BB phones assembled here). However, as Apple isn't planning to build a factory here (in fact, their Brazil plant is almost done) everything Apple-related except iPads and iPods are being banned. That includes Macbooks. Maybe some Brazil-made Apple products will make their way here (as we belong to the same um... group? (the Mercosur)) but for now, everything's banned.
Oh, not only for Apple or RIM. This applies to notebooks as well: just about every notebook manufacturer (Dell, HP, Acer, Sony to name a few) are being banned to "boost national production and sales". The only big laptop manufacturer that is actually assembling laptops here is Samsung, but just a few models. The rest of 'em are national brands making Chinese-derived models with very poor build quality.
