It's how Huawei custom the parts underneath. As app developers, we had some issues back then with EMUI. Huawei never fix that. After wasting some times to find a work around and found none, we simple ignore the issue. Btw, this issue is not exclusive to Huawei. Many Chinese custom OS had it. MIUI included. But our case is different with MIUI. They willing to fix it and in later iteration, the issue was fixed. I don't know about EMUI though, since we never want to look back again.
TL;DR;
The way EMUI handling apps is bad and sometimes frustrate app developers. But this doesn't mean it isn't good for consumers. As long as you can use it normally, then EMUI is good for you.

I don't know what are these haters talking about. I expected some abomination and was prepared to use another launcher. But after first use, din't know what was supposedly wrong with it.

Does anyone know if they plan to make EMUI more modern and optimised like Samsung did with their One UI?
I couldn't find anything about screen resolution for the P30 Pro. Will it be same screen res and PPI as Mate 20 Pro?

It does not have power for that.
All phones with SD845 can do 4K60 SDR or 4K30 HDR10 in theory, but in the end each OEM makes the choice to offer or not.
