I wish they would focused on designing a bigger sensor instead of just trying to reach a higher mp count, I also disagree with the statement about higher mp being in demand, its not so much that its in demand, its that certain brands in select market are in high demand, these devices are also flagships in their respective markets and carry high end components, and sell well regardlesss of having 50mp sensors on the back, it just so happens that the high end market has these cameras, so the demand is not necessarily for the camera but for the device if that makes sense, look at apple and samsung for example, they only have 12mp cameras, yet they are still market leading often, if you stuck a 100mp camera on the back i doubt it would sell more, just a marketing gimmick really

Anonymous, 16 Mar 2019I'm almost through the whole video and going off the actual results rather than what he says ... moreI dont think you can get those results just with processing. In the crops
Of the building, you can clearly make out the railing on the parapet on the note 7 pro shots, easily see that there are 2 of them. While on the s10 its a lot more blurred. Might just be because it does more noise removing.
As for the 48 mp shot being the same as the 12mp, it surprised me too, the view 20 does the same thing.
But the view 20 seems to get more details than the xs in the verge comparison, but i dont know how the s10 would have performed there.
Mediatek sux, 16 Mar 2019Then what is? How would you know the other sites i give as source arent lying? Even if i said ... moreI'm almost through the whole video and going off the actual results rather than what he says the only area it really did better or had more detail was with manual shutter speed and iso in a dark scene.
Even the first shot where he said details were much better on the 7 pro they weren't. Just slightly less processed. Even the 48mp barely had any more detail than it's own 12mp output or the s10. In fact it didn't really look more detailed at all.

This is one i found, dont know if it "reputable" enough for you, the honor view 20 vs iphone xs, view 20 has the same sensor as note 7 pro.
Even if you do arrive at some conclusions, you still dont know if they a lying. I fail to see your point here.
Mediatek sux, 16 Mar 2019And how would you know if those 'reputable sites' arent paid? Because they disclose everything and make it possible for you to reach the same conclusions. They make their methodology crystal clear, they do their research rigorously and go deeper than just staring at images.

I want to see a reputable website with good knowledge on photography compare the two devices. Not some random stranger with a spare afternoon

Well, another comparison between the honor view 20 and iphone xs max, shows more detail in the view 20 shots in 12mp daylight.

I'm sorry but no. These 12mp shots lack detail if anything. All they do is use heavy noise reduction and artificial sharpening. Giving it less detail.
The only thing these 12mp sensors have been good for is their dynamic range with multi stacking and their dual pixel focus.
Anonymous, 15 Mar 2019Companies can use noise to fake details. We will wait for them to do that then
ProJames-CHM, 15 Mar 2019Small pixels are useless for print. You'll just have a ton of noiseWho still prints photos?
