The last Oracle, 16 Mar 2019It probably also means thsy HTC was replete with scams and expenses which were unnecessary.
... moreProblem is ppl here will ask for a phone better than Note/Mate series but for price of OnePlus. Something impossible.
Of course they should not charge $1000, but they cannot survive charging $500.
Walter C. Dornez, 16 Mar 2019And carrier deals. They need to sell through carriers. It would be smart to price it in betwee... moreQuite simply, lack of distribution channels played a huge part. I work a decent job, and have worked at numerous places, with people that have a decent disposable incomes. Yet to meet anyone that actually gets their phones by any other means than on carrier 2yr contract.
The company still exists? I thought Google bought and incinerated the company.
Hope this year will be big come back for HTC !!!!! Quality, software stability, design, inovation, best sound., etc...that,s HTC, my favorite phones. They deserve another chance and a much better future.
It probably also means thsy HTC was replete with scams and expenses which were unnecessary.
Now they need a complete design overhaul and re-think.
HTC should conduct a HUGE market survey for customer expectations and all former HTC should be consulted too.
Walter C. Dornez, 16 Mar 2019And carrier deals. They need to sell through carriers. It would be smart to price it in betwee... moreYou do realize that their USB c headphones are some of the best audio devices around?
And I don't see apple falling after the headphone jack removal?
HTC made some bad decisions, far worse than removing a port. Next year should tell us if they learned anything.
HTC is in the same position as Microsoft phones. They hardly sold any in the last few years.
They just need to concentrate on making a top end phone and sell it at a bargain price. Maybe always using last years SnapDragon. So maybe SD855 instead of SD865.
HTC is still in the top 3 of the best cameraphone.. Hopefully they strengthen other aspects of their phones. Especially the spec offered per tier and price per tier
"Restructuring and reorganizing" means 1500 people lost their jobs...
Why would anyone buy HTC now.. its boring.. they removed headphone jack like they were iphone.. the best they could innovate was the side bar pressure which is the most useless thing.. their battery isnt great either and the updates are now finished. The sound equalizer was gone on my M8.. its sad they have chosen to sit on the sides and do absolutely nothing .. :(
Not_good, 16 Mar 2019the worst decision this comany ever made was, one of the first in line to remove headphone jac... moreAbsolutely agree. It was one of the most idiotic decisions company ever made. They thought without headphone jack they will become another Apple, but they just became another loser. People repsonsible for this decision should have been fired from company immediately without any compensation.
Call me weird and old-school but I landed on an e-mail address for an executive of HTC and I spilled my guts as to what kind of device they should make to kill the market. You never know, even crowd-funding could get them back afloat so long as the specs sheet and price is right.
All they did was cut advertising costs and software support. It's just downhill from here when the remaining loyalists leave due to lack of updates.
the worst decision this comany ever made was, one of the first in line to remove headphone jack. when the company is known for the best in bussiness when it comes to audio systems on the phone. and o the other hand samsung kept the audio jack and underatand the importance of it. because bluetooth is still not ready to completely replace the wires especially in games due to the audio delay.
Whackcar, 16 Mar 2019There was a time when HTC & Samsung were deemed equivalent... Now HTC is almost irrelevant... moreAnd carrier deals. They need to sell through carriers. It would be smart to price it in between the OnePlus 6T and the S10E
Aadrian, 16 Mar 2019My first ever touch phone was the HTC Touch Diamond, what a great little device. I hope to see... moreMy first ever HTC was the G2 (Desire-Z) , awesome phone back in the day. I actually went into a river with it in my shorts pocket and it was half way under water for like 10 minutes and I forgot about it until I got out of the water but it still worked. BT and WIFI stopped working and the lcd had a slight yellow tinge (line) on the upper top from the water but everything else was working fine.
Whackcar, 16 Mar 2019There was a time when HTC & Samsung were deemed equivalent... Now HTC is almost irrelevant... morePositive:
- fast performance
- great camera
- nice design
- outstanding audio
- clean UI
- screen low brightness
- battery endurance
- updates are getting much slower.
