The phone is so old so why expect an upgrade to ICS in the first place? Samsung's move is justified imho.

SE has regained its reputation on software support with their quick release of Android updates and the upcoming ICS release for the 2011 Xperias, and Samsung simply fails, they dared to save $200M to fight Apple in courts when they can't pay its programmers to port Android ICS to their prized, first iPhone look-a-like Android phone. Galaxy S could have all the power to run ICS since it shares the same hardware as Nexus S

People bashed Nokia when they stated that Nokia 5800 5230etc wont receive symbian belle but now even samsung did the same :-)

It's a shame that a company like Samsung is doing this. I flashed a ICS custom ROM from the XDA forum 2 days ago on my SGS and everything is running perfect. Samsung's claiming that the phone will not be able to run ICS with TouchWiz is just bulls**t.

Well this is certainly one way for a company to have a fall in sales, treat customers like cr@p expecting them to buy a new handset from them......well Samsung it doesn't work that way, people would sooner switch makes than rather put up with lack of customer support. My guess is that Motorola, Sony and Iphone sales will increase the more you "faff" people about with your total lack of interest in customers who already have bought your products.

I'm not able to purchase a new phone in every 6 month which is very much costly like my 3 month salary, but we perches Samsung phone becose they are very careful about customer test, but in this point Samsung doing e responsible work, I'm very disappointing. same configuration phone nexus one get the ics without any problem, but in this case Samsung trying to make foolish of the sgs user, we made mistake why we brought Samsung phone?????

Excuses not to work. Hardware is more than capable, internal memory is more than enough. Not good - cannot be beneficial to the flagship Galaxy S line.

Does this mean the rest of newer phone such as Galaxy S+, Galaxy W, Galaxy Ace+ will too end up stucked with GingerBread for life.

I do hope my SGW get update beyond 2.3.5 or else this would be my first & last Samsung Smartphone.
