As a galaxy s user running on GB I dont quite see the reason to updte my phone's OS. That would mean wiping all my data clean and why would I want to do that when I got alot of app and hi-quality games on it. It took me a lot of effort and time to download them and I dont really wanna go through that again all for the sake of cosmetic change. At least until I had finished playing asphalt 6, nova 2, PES 2012and a couple other game THEN maybe I would reconsider. Or maybe I wont and move on with a glaxy s2 instead. And honestly I think so should you.
Surfed, read, posted on a galaxy s.
AnonD-21645, 05 Jan 2012LOL I've never seen such a heated debate over a phone that's almost 2 years old and has alr... morethat was possibly the best comment i have ever seen on the website . . if only everyone was as relaxed as your self
LOL
I've never seen such a heated debate over a phone that's almost 2 years old and has already spawned a successor AND is about to spawn another one!!
Come on people, a little bit of objectivity here...
There is no 'best manufacturer' there is no 'best OS' - there simply is 'choice for the consumer'..
As a few sensible people have said on here - iphones suit some people, android suit others, windows others, etc. etc.
iOS is the pinnacle of simplicity and stability - that's why it's so damned popular - coupled with decent all-round specs it's a great phone for that particular type of person.
android suits the more tech-savvy, the more power-hungry user that loves to customise and make their phone their own - at the expense of stability and simplicity.
windows suits, well I'm not really sure yet, but something in between perhaps?
AND AS FOR MANUFACTURERS
Come on - why would you be 'loyal' to one manufacturer and limit what type of phone you can buy? And how often do we change our phones?
The longest time is once every 2 years, the earliest as often as once a year... so these arguments about updating phones, etc. - are you really that bothered? really?
Widen your perspective! I change my phone usually every 18 months, my last 2 phones have been Galaxy, because of the specs, but to be honest, I'm just a bit bored with the design, so this year, I'll be looking towards HTC / Sony / Moto for something a bit different... Why stay loyal to a single manufacturer? Most phones are similar specs and designs - the only loser is you!
So sit back, relax, take it easy and let's see what 2012 brings!! (hopefully something a bit different like an Xperia Play 2!)
Sammy has fooled its loyal customers big time...now is the time to look forward to Sony Ericsson....my friends owning SE active, xperia minis, walkman live are laughing at me.....shame on sammy...
the Nexus S is the Google version of Galaxy S.. almost the same phone.. and Nexus S already has ICS... this is just a unfair movement from Samsung to force people with a GS to buy a new phone....
Anonymous, 05 Jan 2012I don't believe that Android is the best OS nor the Samsung Galaxy is the best phone. I don't ... moreAndroid can do more than iOS and WP7 and Symbian, but some like to "belong" to the "right" group of people and they buy an iPhone, and others want to be different and buy N9 or any WP7, and others have not yet tried anything else but the old Symbian!
Anonymous, 05 Jan 2012I don't think this can be said enough by enough people. You keep seeing it a lot. Get over it.... moreAnd you my friend, are a pissed off Samsung hardcore fanboy :D
Anonymous, 05 Jan 2012More trolls. Some people justify, some really mean what they say, and some Know. You don't hav... moreI don't believe that Android is the best OS nor the Samsung Galaxy is the best phone. I don't believe also that iOS is the best or WP or Symbian because all of them have their own strength and weaknesses, and have the specific fit for every user. Can you tell that BMW is better than Toyota? You can't. It depends on the user. If the user know how to use the device and happy with it, it's the best device/OS for him. I'm using iPhone 4, and it perfectly suit my needs, same to the million happy customer all around the globe. If someone will give me SGS2 or HTC Sensation for free, why not, it's good phone also.
Hey guys, Why all these complains?
just flash the Stock ICS, and happy new year. (the matter is simple)
Wonder when they will make a phone that will be compatible for updates why manufacture a smart phone that will not be able to receive updates ,this is were samsung is shoddy , as for being a loyal samsung fab for long i will no longer be purchasing any sammy product in future this company fails to deliver on their promises as well as their after sales service sucks .
Anonymous, 05 Jan 2012Samsung user are the most confused user here in mobile world. When the device cannot be update... moreMore trolls. Some people justify, some really mean what they say, and some Know. You don't have the slightest clue what you are saying. Androd phones are cheap if you get a cheap phone. Android itself is the best OS. And tyhe top Droids like the Galaxy S are the best mobiles. Some people only believe they are cosmetic, some people are happy with the older versions because they don't need certain features, and some of us want the newer os because new features come. Just out of curiosity what brand are you using that you feel so righteous?
abhi, 04 Jan 2012Haha...:-D samsung fooled it's customers again......... Now i'm only gng to choose frm either... moreI don't think this can be said enough by enough people. You keep seeing it a lot. Get over it. As already been told. YOU LOST ONE LAST SINGLE OFFICIAL UPDATE! GET OVER IT! Missing one single update does not make a company crap, make fools out of us, or screw everything up. You are immature. And you are already an SE fan. You are just a troll
This might mean Sumsung Galaxy Nexus could get stuck with ICS 4.0 and the future Galaxy S3 could get stuck with ICS 4.0.1 and maybe the future Galaxy S3 could get stuck in ICS 4.0.2 ...lolzzz, (just because the hardware can't be supported). Come on, If the company believes that one stupid excuse would let them get out of this, they're so damn wrong. (Sumsung is now telling customers that their Galaxy S hardware is way worse than my Sony Xperia MINI...lolz), So it can't be updated to ICS. U believe it???
Yes,Gingerbread is better than ics becos of the touchwiz funtion.the ics tat devl ported to galaxy s i9000 it not so convenience as touchwiz.
Pathetic treatment by Samsung. Galaxy S is probably the brand ambassador of their growth and they ditched it.
Service matters not Ghz or big screen.
thats happen to a company when it manufactures bulk of phones. limited models is better option. I have sony Ericsson neo v and I wl be getting it . and lot people here its nt a cosmetic change its a complete change ok , windows 98. and Windows 7 is nt a cosmetic change ok . xperia phones are surely better.
How could there be a hardware limitation, when sony ericsson is upgrading its 2011 smartphones to ICS 4.0 update, When all of them are of 1 Ghz processor and Ram is of about 512 mb ,Where you only get 320mb to use it. Its really shame that galaxy s owners won't be getting 4.0 ICS update from samsung.
how come sony ericsson can bring ICs to their 2011 xperias and samsung cant??? galaxy s is even better than other xperias that will get ICS update. samsung failed their customers again.
Wolverine037, 04 Jan 2012i couldnt agree more with the plan to push the people on buying new handsets, but still my ques... moreI do think they could squeeze the one last update, but officialy it might slow it down a bit.
Samsung user are the most confused user here in mobile world. When the device cannot be updated, they tried to justify that upgrading is just plain cosmetic changes and they loved to have older OS (well for Android it might be true). It only shows how cheap all the Android updates and they're just doing it for the sake of saying that "ohh we updated the OS" to cope up with the competition. On the other hand, if they can be upgraded, they will shout that "oohhh my SGS II rocks, the best, blah blah blah". They're trying to justify everything. Well that's the truth when you bought a device that you're not content with it, you're trying to justify that you made the right decision where in fact you had wished you bought another smartphone brand.
