sheraz, 04 Jan 2012Just a lame excuse when it is destined for phones like sony ericsson neo v and xperia arc s to... moreAgree, I have one Samsung Continuum and they promised give 2.2 and even 2.3 but NOT, I'm stuck with 2.1, they just don' t wanna support this one..has 1 GHZ, 512 MB and everything to be a nice phone but GREEDY Samsung want me to buy an more expensive phone instead update this one....Samsung just sucks alas Verizon for being so ungrateful with their buyers and be soo greedy enough to annihilate a good solid phone in oreder to sell other brands...
BUT HTC is not that greedy they still behind their phones...I make a wrong choice with Samsung, next time I will get an HTC for me and my entire family....and Cyanogen don't have any ROM for this one and the custom ROMS I test are very buggy, crappy and faulty....That's why I lie more the stock than the cooked ones...in ones the GPS don't wrk, in others the Bluetooth, in others the touch is iresponsive and all this just because Verizon/Samsung DON'T want to release 2.2/2.3 officially...
i hate samsung ....
i am galexi user i am stil waiting i cecrem sandwich... :-(
This is frustrating, they just want us to buy a new Samsung that runs ICS.
They are right about this. I installed ICS (Onecosmic's RC2.11) and it is running alright. But anything that asks for more memory (e.g. swype) brings the phone to a crawl.
So, no, they shouldn't release the upgrade for the wide public, as it'll be too fragile. You need to keep it clean and lean so it runs smooth, test each app and remove in case of slowdown, etc.
Yani, 04 Jan 2012Nokia troll?
2 years old Symbian phones will get you S60 rel.5 updates and not Symbian Anna /... moreNot a troll just like to customise my phone the way I want it (which I could do on eclair) not the way Steve Jobs (God Rest him) says I want it, and yes I have used SGS on eclair and it wasn't that bad (was a while ago so probably not as good as I remember, been through froyo and gingerbread since)
Still don't want an iPhone though.
Haha face palm indeed! My SGS now is ICS update already thnx for the guys at XDA and CM no need to hope for samsung crappynes minus the ugly Touchwiz. And also this will be my last phone from samsung. But thinking sgs will still be my phone for another 2year or more thnx for the pwerVR gpu in it.
promises are meant to be broken.
so i have galaxy s whit ics from xda so samsung can not say that the phone canot recive ics i think is the way for the people buy another phones....
it's simple..
they want you to get new handset with ICS..
full stop..
Actually I'm quite happy. If samsung updates android for galaxy s like it updated bada 2.0 for s8500, mobiles will no longer work. Because the current bada 2.0 looks like a very bad beta version. It looks like samsung wants the money of idiots who buy its phones and then 'not our problem'. For the record - I'm an idiot, too because I have a wave and I know I should have bought any mobile not created by samsung. Next time I'll buy a motorola or a se, or even an iphone but not a samsung. Kies forced me to re-install my Windows and people working for samsung pretended it was my fault because I had a 'fake' Windows when I contacted them. Funny, you know, how could Microsoft register, accept and update a 'fake' Windows but even a box version of Windows with 2 discs for 64 and 32-bit versions is 'fake' when one creates nasty kies.
Frankwhite009, 04 Jan 2012Also the Google Nexus S is getting an ICS update and it has the same CPU, RAM, ROM, and GPU as... moreEverything is the same except GPU SGS got 3 times better GPU then Nexus ONE and much more ROM.
I alredy running ICS on my SGS and everything is better than 2,3. So who gonna buy new Samsung phones if they relise ICS for SGS. I dont expect this from Samsung, so dirty....
The problem is not in the SGS...it's in Samsung themselves. They're not updating ANY but 3 of their 2011 devices...which is disappointing to be honest.
i laugh at this! lol
Dirty politics, i alredy running ISC in my SGS, everythnig work better then Gingerbread. so Get the point :)
and they laugh at LG for releasing ICS late...at leats the optimus black will get ics, which has worse hardware.
can you see the irony?
The most idiotic and ludicrous part of this debacle is that there have been community made 90% stable stock builds of ICS out there for the GT-i9000 and the Captivate varient for almost as long as ICS hit AOSP (Android Open Source Project). This proves that Samsung does not want to invest in the "time and money" to do this. And touchwiz getting more bloated by the release. But oh well, move on or root, and go with what you need.
What I wonder is...
If samsung galaxy s with 1ghz & 512mb is not updated to ics. Does that mean there will be no low or mid range ics devices in future from samsung???
Also the Google Nexus S is getting an ICS update and it has the same CPU, RAM, ROM, and GPU as The Galaxy S I9000. so they are full of it when they say its hardware issues.
Lol, I have a SGSII and even if Samsung release the ICS update, I'm not in a hurry to upgrade it, because my custom GB rom is just awesome. It does everything I could think of. Many apps aren't even optimized for ICS, so until ICS will become mainstream S3 will be already old news. Time to upgrade.
Much of the users complaining here aren't even using a Galaxy S ...
