I respect your comments, yet it is different to what I have experienced. I think both of them are above average among current phones with under display fingerprint readers, but neither of them are especially better. Maybe a later software update can change the situation.

Galaxy S series have got one useless annoyance already - Bixby Button. And they know that only few people really appreciate this "innovation" so they partially rehabilitate themselves in S10 series. Ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint reader is not a "gift of gods" either but at least it's much better than Mate 20 Pro one.

Yet there must be someone to push out some flawed features for any products. Do you remember comments of OG iphone and early Android phones? IMO, customers should have the chance to try some techs even if they are not good enough. If the world is only full of matured products by matured manufacturers, improvements will be made too slow. Some manufacturers have superior ability in R&D, such as Apple and Google, has changed from a producer keen on pushing new techs, to mainly pushing well-developed features only. I respected their decisions as it is important to the branding, yet the improvements in many products are too incremental nowadays. I really hope Samsung would not be the next.

Ol... moreWell, apart from entertaining kids and luring someone into buying this smartphone, I see no reason of implementing this new & fancy in-screen fingerprint technology when obviously it's inferior to older one. It is not the 1 second delay case, it just does not working properly. I wish to developers of this bloody thing to use it to the rest of their days and see their struggle and suffer :).

Even the S10 with the so-called the most advanced Qualcomm ultrasonic under screen fingerprint reader, the result is quite annoying for some. According to my own experiences with Mate 20 Pro, S20+, Oneplus 6T, Xiaomi 8 Pro, and Vivo Nex Dual Display, you will take at least around 1 second for unlock. If you feel unacceptable, I recommend changing to other unlock method such as face unlock, as I did for Mate 20 Pro.

I did the trick of registering the same finger 2 times, removed screen protector, cleaned the screen ,reset the phone and even replaced (!) the phone complaining about exactly this issue. The result was the same - it never worked as fast and effortless like old school physical fingerprint. Again, the most common scenario - "unlocked with face unlock after 4 unsuccessful attempts of using fingerprint...". Very annoying and surely unacceptable for over $1000 high-end phone. Yes, I started to hate this phone straight from the beginning - even before login into it. Luckily I've managed to get rid of it quickly and with no significant money loss. Good riddance!!! Not interested in this "innovative feature / technology" in other phones either.

Do... moreI think you should better try out the under screen fingerprint reader for both Huawei Mate 20 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S10+, also you can try that from Nokia 9 Pureview if possible.
The one on Mate 20 Pro is far from Stellar, but it is a bit faster then the untrasonic one used on Samsung. Nokia 9 is ... totally behind the competition.

To be honest, I don't believe that Huawei will ever achieve Samsung level. They have a lot of muscles for it but no brains. Huawei will always be "an early days Sammy". Feeling of incompleteness, unpolishness is always persecute me every time I put my hand on expensive Huawei or any other Chinese makers flagship.

Pixel 3 / 3 ... moreIMO, we can criticize on the problematic software issues Chinese Phone makers have, but need to appreciate the innovation ideas they can adopt, such as under-screen fingerprint reader (VIVO), pop-up cameras (VIVO and OPPO). I understand many other big names had already developed the related technologies for many years but never applied them on their phones.
Many years ago, Sammy phones are also full of problems but many of them have been solved now. Huawei is very similar to the past Samsung in many ways IMO.

Please find the post with my complaints list below. The only single "issue" with Pixel 3 is a bit darker or even with crashed dark areas, contrasty images from the main camera. That's it. Everything else is perfect. Huawei has a long way to go to reach the Pixel level of hardware + software perfection. The only thing they can do is flexing hardware muscles. That's it.

realitychecker, 26 Mar 2019maybe... personally i never really prefer apple. gave it try with their x way back then. truth... moreI like dull, boring design of pure Android from Google. Simplicity, minimalism and clarity is what I prefer. So apart from Google Pixel, I'd pick up OnePlus or any other flagship with Android One. In the end, I would rather say that Android UI / overlay isn't so important for me as it looks like. I just will choose that Android version where everything works like a Swiss clock. Google Pixel OS delivers it for 100%. When I buy a smartphone for $1000 or more I want every single thing, even a very small and might be to so important one, work. Huawei phones with their EMUI seem do not deliver it which is sad.

Dominique, 26 Mar 2019Wow, looks like you owned a lot of flagships at the same time. Not a lot. Usually 2 or 3. I'm re-selling them and have the opportunity to keep one that I like more.

Anonymous, 26 Mar 2019Don't even get started. LG cameras sucks big time! Their post processing is still bad.Not talking about telephoto camera. P30 will have 80 mm camera. P30 Pro will have 125 mm camera. V40 only have 52 mm. 2,5 times less focal distance than P30 Pro.
